Job Description


Key Responsibilities

Machine Maintenance

  • Plan, implement, and monitor preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance for all sewing and non-sewing machines.
  • Ensure achievement of engineering KPIs such as

    machine utilization, availability, Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF), Mean Time To Repair (MTTR), and SMV reduction support

    .
  • Optimize spare parts inventory and ensure cost-effective machine upkeep.
  • Ensure timely calibration and compliance of critical equipment.
  • Implement Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and reliability-centered maintenance practices.

Automation & Innovation (A&I)

  • Identify, evaluate, and implement automation solutions to reduce manual dependency and improve productivity.
  • Drive innovation initiatives in machinery, tools, jigs, and attachments to enhance efficiency, quality, and operator ergonomics.
  • Collaborate with IE (Industrial Engineering) and production teams to deploy machine upgrades and innovative processes.
  • Conduct ROI and feasibility analysis for A&I projects and CAPEX proposals.
  • Benchmark new technologies and industry best practices for continuous improvement.

Facility & Compliance

  • Oversee engineering services related to utilities (power, compressed air, water, etc.) ensuring safety, compliance, and efficiency.
  • Ensure adherence to

    EHS standards, legal requirements, and buyer-specific compliance audits

    .
  • Implement energy-saving projects and sustainability initiatives across engineering functions.

Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead and develop the plant/regional engineering team including maintenance engineers, mechanics, and A&I specialists.
  • Allocate responsibilities, set performance objectives, and monitor achievement.
  • Build technical competencies within the team through training and development.

Stakeholder & Project Management

  • Work closely with production, quality, merchandising, and planning teams to ensure engineering support for business goals.
  • Manage external stakeholders including machine suppliers, service providers, and contractors.
  • Lead group-level engineering and A&I initiatives within the region.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Machine utilization & availability rates.
  • SMV reduction achieved through engineering initiatives.
  • Maintenance cost vs. budget.
  • Breakdown frequency & downtime reduction.
  • % of A&I projects implemented on time and ROI delivered.
  • Compliance & EHS audit scores.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Textile, or Industrial Engineering (or equivalent).
  • 10–15 years’ experience in

    machine maintenance and automation

    in apparel/textile manufacturing, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of sewing machines, special attachments, utility systems, and automation solutions for apparel.
  • Experience in TPM, Lean Manufacturing, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Excellent project management, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and analytical skills.
