Description
As a Linux Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and evaluating current and future infrastructure initiatives to ensure the highest level of efficiency and performance. You will collaborate closely with various IT groups, including project management, database administration, network and security teams, and application teams to contribute to overall architectural design, implementation, and troubleshooting. Your key responsibilities will include analyzing, acquiring, installing, modifying, and supporting Linux operating systems, utilities, and Internet/intranet-related tools. You will also be involved in configuration management and automation using tools like Ansible and Python. Additionally, you will perform problem diagnosis, troubleshooting, and resolution, along with Linux OS installations, patching, and upgrades. Furthermore, you will maintain operating systems and associated infrastructure software, as well as design and document Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for system administration activities. You will install and maintain Server OS, configuration, and patching levels using automated installation tools like Red Hat Satellite. As a seasoned professional in this field, you will demonstrate good judgment in selecting methods and techniques to resolve a wide range of issues in creative ways. The ideal candidate for this role will possess 8+ years of experience in a level 2/3 enterprise server systems support role and/or Linux-based administrator position. You should have expertise in on-premise and cloud provider systems administration, working with Linux Server in a virtualized environment, and integrating various Linux distributions, particularly Red Hat Enterprise and Ubuntu, in heterogeneous environments. Experience with Red Hat Satellite for managing Linux distributions, High Availability and Disaster Recovery environments, Docker, Ansible, VMWare, storage technologies, change and incident management processes is desirable. Additionally, familiarity with compliance frameworks such as CIS, NIST, HIPPA, ISO, etc., and holding certifications like RHCSA and/or RHCSE will be advantageous. You should be self-motivated, possess good judgment in problem-solving, and be capable of working night shifts (IST) as required. On-call after-hours support as part of a team rotation may also be necessary. A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, MIS, or a related field is required for this position.
