Linux Administrator

Location:

Key Responsibilities:

Monitoring & Alerts Handling:

• Monitor Linux servers using tools like Nagios, BMC TSA/TSOM, or equivalent.
• Acknowledge alerts and perform initial troubleshooting steps.
• Escalate unresolved issues to teams as per escalation matrix.

• Ticket Management:

• Log and update incidents in the ticketing system (e.g., ServiceNow, Jira).
• Ensure timely ticket resolution as per SLA.
• Document steps taken to resolve issues.

• Basic Linux Administration:

• User and group administration.
• Manage disk space and file systems (basic LVM tasks).
• Assist in patching and OS updates under senior guidance.

• Support & Communication:

• Provide technical support to clients via email and phone.
• Coordinate with internal teams or external vendors for issue resolution.
• Maintain professional communication and customer service.

• Reporting:

• Prepare and send daily shift reports summarizing incidents, escalations, and activities.
• Record changes and issues handled during shift transitions.

• Security & Compliance:

• Assist with applying patches and updates to close VA/PT observations.
• Support basic OS hardening tasks.

• Operational Tasks:

• Perform server health checks.
• Support server commissioning/decommissioning.
• Assist with installing basic infrastructure applications (Apache, Nginx, etc.).

Required Skills:

• Basic knowledge of Linux (RHEL 8/9 preferred).
• Understanding of Linux commands, file systems, services.
• Familiarity with basic network concepts and protocols (DNS, HTTP, SMTP, etc.).
• Ability to follow standard operating procedures and escalation paths.
• Willingness to work in 24x7 rotational shifts.
