Line Inspector

Division: Machine Shop

Status: Line Inspector – (CNC & VMC)

Department: Production

Qualification: Degree Diploma Mechanical

Key responsibilities

· Quality inspection: Conduct incoming, in-process, and final inspections of materials and finished products.

· Blueprint and specification review: Study blueprints and specifications to ensure products meet all requirements.

· Product testing: Test and measure products using tools like callipers, gauges, and micrometres to check dimensions and functionality.

· Process monitoring: Monitor the production line to ensure it is operating according to standard operating procedures and quality standards.

· Defect identification and reporting: Identify defective parts, separate them from the production line, and document findings in databases or reports.

· Machine and area cleanliness: Ensure that machines and the work area are clean and well-maintained.

· Improvement recommendations: Recommend adjustments to the production process to improve quality.

· Production control: Have the authority to stop production if a quality issue is discovered that cannot be immediately resolved.

Required skills and qualifications

· Strong knowledge of quality control principles and inspection systems.

· Proficiency with inspection tools such as callipers, gauges, and micrometres.

· Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.

· Good communication skills for reporting issues and working with production staff.

· Detail-oriented with the ability to identify defects and inconsistencies.

· Familiarity with relevant manufacturing processes (e.g., iron casting, in the case of the example job).

· Basic technical education is often beneficial.
