Lease Accounting & Analyst

About this Role

This role is focused on lease accounting and analysis, with a strong emphasis on process optimization, data integrity, and cross-functional collaboration. The individual will be responsible for reviewing lease contracts, performing variance analysis, and driving improvements in accounting processes. The position requires a deep understanding of SAP RE-FX and IFRS 16, along with the ability to manage complex data sets and support strategic initiatives.\

What you will do

• Extract and analyse relevant data from SAP to identify anomalies, determine root causes, and propose corrective actions and process enhancements.
• Review and approve lease contract creations and modifications in SAP.
• Conduct variance analysis between REFX and GL balances for Right-of-Use (ROU) assets and lease liabilities.
• Reconcile complex accounts and proactively improve accounting processes.
• Ensure timely and accurate preparation of accounting records, monthly close activities, and variance analyses.
• Simplify and automate Business-as-Usual (BAU) processes through critical analysis.
• Identify process risks and define controls to prevent, detect, and correct them.
• Perform quality reviews of large data sets and make necessary corrections.
• Participate in cross-functional projects, representing accounting requirements and ensuring successful implementation.

What skills you need

• Bachelors degree in accounting, finance, or a related field with 4–6 years of relevant experience.
• Professional qualifications such as CA, CMA, CPA, or ACCA are preferred.
• Experience with Big 4 audit firms is an added advantage.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and IFRS 16.
• Proficiency in SAP RE-FX module is highly desirable.
• Experience with journal entries and general ledger variance analysis.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach.
• High attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Effective verbal and written communication with stakeholders.
• Certification in Power BI or Power Automate is an added advantage.
