Lead Software Engineer Legacy System Migration & Cross-Platform Development

Location: Vadodara (or specify if hybrid/remote)

Role Overview

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer with strong expertise in Windows and Linux-based application development, legacy system migration, and device driver development. The ideal candidate will lead the transition of legacy Windows XP-based embedded systems to modern platforms (Windows 11/Linux), ensuring compatibility with new hardware interfaces such as Thunderbolt and FireWire.

Key Responsibilities

• Reverse engineer legacy Windows applications and hardware communication layers.
• Migrate and modernize applications from Windows XP to Windows 11 and/or Linux.
• Design and implement cross-platform software solutions compatible with modern motherboards.
• Develop and debug Linux device drivers and system-level components.
• Collaborate with embedded hardware teams to ensure seamless hardware-software integration.
• Document migration strategies and maintain traceability of features.
• Support system testing, validation, and deployment.

Required Technical Skills

Software Development

• Strong programming skills in C, C++ (Assembly optional).
• Experience with Windows (XP/7/10/11) and Linux application development.
• Familiarity with reverse engineering tools (IDA Pro, Ghidra).
• Proficient in Visual Studio, Git, and debugging tools (WinDbg, Process Explorer, Driver Verifier).

Driver & Kernel-Level Development

• Hands-on experience with Linux device driver development.
• System-level programming and debugging expertise.

Hardware Interfaces

• Experience with PCIe, USB, Serial, and custom I/O buses.
• Familiarity with FireWire (IEEE 1394) and Thunderbolt (USB-C/PCIe).
• Ability to work with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters, and interpret schematics/datasheets.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in industrial control systems, automation, or embedded firmware.
• Exposure to virtualization/emulation environments.
• Knowledge of hardware abstraction layers and low-level system integration.
