Job Description

Role Proficiency:

Act under guidance of Lead II/Architect understands customer requirements and translate them into design of new DevOps (CI/CD) components. Capable of managing at least 1 Agile Team

Outcomes:

  1. Interprets the DevOps Tool/feature/component design to develop/support the same in accordance with specifications
  2. Adapts existing DevOps solutions and creates own DevOps solutions for new contexts
  3. Codes debugs tests documents and communicates DevOps development stages/status of DevOps develop/support issues
  4. Select appropriate technical options for development such as reusing improving or reconfiguration of existing components
  5. Optimises efficiency cost and quality of DevOps process tools and technology development
  6. Validates results with user representatives; integrates and commissions the overall solution
  7. Helps Engineers troubleshoot issues that are novel/complex and are not covered by SOPs
  8. Design install configure troubleshoot CI/CD pipelines and software
  9. Able to automate infrastructure provisioning on cloud/in-premises with the guidance of architects
  10. Provides guidance to DevOps Engineers so that they can support existing components
  11. Work with diverse teams with Agile methodologies
  12. Facilitate saving measures through automation
  13. Mentors A1 and A2 resources
  14. Involved in the Code Review of the team

Measures of Outcomes:

  1. Quality of deliverables
  2. Error rate/completion rate at various stages of SDLC/PDLC
  3. # of components/reused
  4. # of domain/technology certification/ product certification obtained
  5. SLA for onboarding and supporting users and tickets

Outputs Expected:

Automated components :

  1. Deliver components that automat parts to install components/configure of software/tools in on premises and on cloud
  2. Deliver components that automate parts of the build/deploy for applications


Configured components:

  1. Configure a CI/CD pipeline that can be used by application development/support teams


Scripts:

  1. Develop/Support scripts (like Powershell/Shell/Python scripts) that automate installation/configuration/build/deployment tasks


Onboard users:

  1. Onboard and extend existing tools to new app dev/support teams


Mentoring:

  1. Mentor and provide guidance to peers


Stakeholder Management:

  1. Guide the team in preparing status updates
    keeping management updated about the status


Training/SOPs :

  1. Create Training plans/SOPs to help DevOps Engineers with DevOps activities and in onboarding users


Measure Process Efficiency/Effectiveness:

  1. Measure and pay attention to efficiency/effectiveness of current process and make changes to make them more efficiently and effectively


Stakeholder Management:

  1. Share the status report with higher stakeholder

Skill Examples:

  1. Experience in the design installation configuration and troubleshooting of CI/CD pipelines and software using Jenkins/Bamboo/Ansible/Puppet /Chef/PowerShell /Docker/Kubernetes
  2. Experience in Integrating with code quality/test analysis tools like Sonarqube/Cobertura/Clover
  3. Experience in Integrating build/deploy pipelines with test automation tools like Selenium/Junit/NUnit
  4. Experience in Scripting skills (Python/Linux/Shell/Perl/Groovy/PowerShell)
  5. Experience in Infrastructure automation skill (ansible/puppet/Chef/Powershell)
  6. Experience in repository Management/Migration Automation - GIT/BitBucket/GitHub/Clearcase
  7. Experience in build automation scripts - Maven/Ant
  8. Experience in Artefact repository management - Nexus/Artifactory
  9. Experience in Dashboard Management & Automation- ELK/Splunk
  10. Experience in configuration of cloud infrastructure (AWS/Azure/Google)
  11. Experience in Migration of applications from on-premises to cloud infrastructures
  12. Experience in Working on Azure DevOps/ARM (Azure Resource Manager)/DSC (Desired State Configuration)/Strong debugging skill in C#/C Sharp and Dotnet
  13. Setting and Managing Jira projects and Git/Bitbucket repositories
  14. Skilled in containerization tools like Docker/Kubernetes

Knowledge Examples:

  • Knowledge of Installation/Config/Build/Deploy processes and tools
    1. Knowledge of IAAS - Cloud providers (AWS/Azure/Google etc.) and their tool sets
    2. Knowledge of the application development lifecycle
    3. Knowledge of Quality Assurance processes
    4. Knowledge of Quality Automation processes and tools
    5. Knowledge of multiple tool stacks not just one
    6. Knowledge of Build Branching/Merging
    7. Knowledge about containerization
    8. Knowledge on security policies and tools
    9. Knowledge of Agile methodologies

    Required Technical Skills Core Technologies Kubernetes: Extensive experience with EKS, AKS for managing and orchestrating containerized workloads Containerization: Proficiency in Docker and Helm for container management Infrastructure as Code: Expert-level knowledge in Terraform with focus on cloud-agnostic design Service Mesh: Knowledge of Istio is required for advanced container orchestration CI/CD Tools: Hands-on experience with Tekton, ArgoCD, and Bamboo Programming: Strong automation skills in Python and shell scripting Platform & Tools Experience JIRA and ServiceNow (SNOW) for project and incident management Bitbucket for version control and code collaboration Maven for build automation and dependency management Unix/Linux (*NIX) systems administration Microservices architecture understanding and implementation API testing frameworks (Web-driver, Cucumber preferred) Monitoring & Observability Splunk for log management and analysis Datadog, Prometheus, and Grafana for monitoring and ing Key Responsibilities Cloud Infrastructure & Platform Management Design, build, manage, and optimize organizational cloud infrastructure on the Azure platform Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) templates using Terraform with cloud-agnostic principles for easy portability to other cloud platforms Manage and maintain Kubernetes clusters (EKS, AKS), including deploying, monitoring, and optimizing containerized applications DevOps & Site Reliability Engineering Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Tekton, ArgoCD, and Bamboo Create, deploy, and manage containerized applications using Docker and Helm charts within Kubernetes environments Manage incident response processes and conduct thorough root cause analysis as needed Support production deployments according to project demands and timelines Coordinate effectively with multiple teams simultaneously Automation & Monitoring Develop automation solutions using Python and scripting languages Implement and maintain monitoring solutions using Prometheus, Grafana, and Datadog Manage log aggregation and analysis using Splunk Utilize automation tools and approaches to streamline operations
