Job Description

Role Overview

The Lead Design Solar Inverters will be responsible for the end-to-end design, development, and

validation of Solar Inverters and Power Converter-based products. This role requires expertise in power

electronics, inverter topologies, digital control strategies, and hardware–firmware integration to deliver

efficient, reliable, and grid-compliant solutions. The individual will lead design architecture, oversee

validation and testing, and mentor junior engineers, ensuring that products meet performance, safety, EMI/

EMC, and certification standards for renewable energy applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of solar inverters and power converter-based products from concept to

production.

  • Define system architecture, circuit design, and component selection for inverter and power conversion

systems.

  • Work with DC-DC and DC-AC converter topologies, PWM control, MPPT algorithms, and grid-tied

inverter technologies.

  • Ensure compliance with grid codes, safety standards, and EMI/EMC regulations applicable to solar

inverters.

  • Collaborate with firmware, hardware, and mechanical teams for seamless integration.
  • Perform simulation, prototyping, and validation of inverter control strategies and power stage designs.
  • Use simulation tools (MATLAB/Simulink, PSIM, PLECS, LTspice) for design modeling and validation.
  • Conduct thermal design, protection strategy implementation (overcurrent, over-voltage, short circuit),

and reliability analysis.

  • Drive testing and certification processes with external agencies to meet IEC/IS standards for solar

inverters.

  • Mentor and guide a team of engineers in power electronics design and validation best practices.
  • Support production teams with design-for-manufacturing (DFM) and design-for-testability (DFT)

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Mandatory: B.E./B.Tech in Electrical Engineering, Electronics & Communication, or Power Electronics.

Strong academic foundation in Power Electronics, Inverter Topologies, and Control Systems.

  • Preferred: M.E./M.Tech in Power Electronics, Renewable Energy, or Control Systems. Certifications/

training in Solar Inverter Design, Power Converter Design, Grid Integration, or EMI/EMC Compliance.

  • 8–15 years of experience in design and development of Solar Inverters and Power Converter products.
  • Ability and experience in working with Design software like Altium or similar.
  • Strong knowledge of power electronics circuits (DC-DC, DC-AC, inverter topologies, filters, and

protection circuits).

  • Experience with MPPT algorithms, grid synchronization, and inverter control techniques.
  • Proficiency in simulation and modeling tools (MATLAB/Simulink, PSIM, PLECS, LTspice, etc.).
  • Hands-on experience with IGBTs, MOSFETs, SiC/GaN devices, and high-frequency magnetics design.
  • Strong understanding of thermal design, EMI/EMC, and protection strategies.
  • Familiarity with relevant IEC/IS standards for Solar Inverters.
  • Experience with microcontrollers/DSPs (TI C2000, ARM Cortex, etc.) for inverter control.
  • Ability to lead teams, conduct design reviews, and resolve technical challenges.
  • Strong debugging and testing skills using oscilloscopes, power analyzers, and other lab equipment.
