Job Description

As a Data Scientist for a major Insurance client, your role will involve a variety of responsibilities. You will be responsible for: - Clearly setting project objectives with the client. - Taking initiatives to identify opportunities and develop problem statements to be worked upon. - Handling data extraction, cleansing, and manipulation, including working with large volumes of data, researching variables, and working with structured/unstructured data. - Developing models using appropriate predictive analytics techniques. - Documenting the modelling procedures clearly and in detail. - Participating in various other analytics projects and working on ad-hoc requests related to data extractions and visualizations as per client needs. In addition to the key responsibilities, as a go-getter, you will be expected to: - Define analytic strategies to meet the demands of business requirements. - Determine the technical requirements of analytic solutions. - Identify data requirements for the analytic solution processes. - Engage in technical problem-solving across multiple technologies and often develop new solutions. The ideal candidate for this position should have 7-12 years of experience in a similar role and possess a go-getter attitude. Experience in the insurance industry is preferred but not mandatory. Personal qualifications that are desired for this role include: - Deep understanding of analytics. - Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment. - Experience in client interactions. The required education and skills for this role are: - An academic background in Science (Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Statistics, Economics, Actuarial Science, etc.). - Strong IT skills with hands-on experience in Machine Learning, Data Analysis, and Data Preparation tools such as Python, Pyspark, and SQL. - Good knowledge in advanced analytics, machine learning, statistical, data mining, and text mining techniques in Regression or classification.
