Lead Cloud Network Engineer

Job summary

The Network Lead is a senior-level technical expert responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining a high-performance, secure, and scalable enterprise network infrastructure. This role encompasses network architecture and operations across on-premise data centers, multiple public cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP), and the hybrid connectivity between them. The Network Lead also possesses strong knowledge of enterprise server management, ensuring seamless integration and optimal performance between the network and server layers

Key responsibilities

• Strategic leadership and architecture:Lead strategic network initiatives and develop comprehensive network strategies that align with business objectives. Design and optimize network topologies, architectures, and services across on-premise, multi-cloud, and hybrid environments.
• Enterprise network management:Provide high-level support for the enterprise network, including routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and wireless networks. Manage and support network services (e.g., WAN/LAN, SD-WAN, VPN, DNS/DHCP), ensuring high availability and optimal performance.
• Multi-cloud networking:Implement and manage network infrastructure on public cloud platforms like AWS and Azure. Oversee multi-cloud connectivity, including VPCs, Direct Connect, and Virtual Network Peering.
• Server and system integration:Collaborate with server and systems administrators to manage and support enterprise server infrastructure. Ensure seamless integration and optimal performance between network devices and servers, including managing user access and permissions.
• Security and compliance:Collaborate with the security team to define, implement, and enforce network security measures, including firewalls, intrusion prevention systems, and access control policies. Conduct regular network audits and vulnerability assessments.
• Troubleshooting and optimization:Act as the highest escalation point for complex network and server incidents, outages, and performance issues. Perform advanced troubleshooting and root cause analysis to minimize downtime.
• Mentorship and documentation:Mentor junior network engineers and maintain comprehensive documentation, including network diagrams, run-books, and network assets.
• Vendor management:Manage vendor and service provider relationships, including evaluating emerging technologies and ensuring adherence to service-level agreements.

Required skills and qualifications

• Education:Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Experience: 8+ years of experience in network engineering, with significant experience in a lead or senior role.
• Proven experience supporting large-scale enterprise networks, including on-premise data centers, remote sites, and multi-cloud environments.
• Demonstrated experience managing and integrating with enterprise server infrastructure.
• Technical expertise:
• Expertise in Layer 2/Layer 3 network architectural design (LAN/WAN) and protocols (e.g., BGP, OSPF, MPLS).
• Deep knowledge of cloud networking services and technologies across major providers (e.g., AWS, Azure).
• Strong understanding of network security functions (firewalls, VPN, IPS) and software-defined networking (SDN).
• Extensive knowledge of server operating systems (Windows, Linux), virtualization, and enterprise server management best practices.
