Lead - CAD

Purpose/Objective

Lead - CAD is responsible for creating detailed CAD drawings, converting design concepts into accurate models, optimizing CAD files, generating technical documentation, conducting rigorous quality checks, and managing CAD data to ensure the successful and error-free implementation of design projects.

Key Responsibilities of Role

Creating Detailed CAD Drawings: Creating detailed and precise CAD drawings for architectural, structural, and MEP systems, ensuring that all designs are accurately represented and align with project specifications by using advanced CAD software tools to develop plans, sections, and elevations that serve as the foundational documents for construction. Ensuring that CAD drawings adhere to industry standards and codes, such as the Indian National Building Code (NBC), and are compatible with other project documentation & regularly updating and revising drawings to reflect design changes and coordinate with other project elements, ensuring consistency and accuracy across all project documents. Converting Design Concepts into CAD Models: Converting design concepts and sketches into detailed CAD models, translating architects' and engineers' ideas into precise technical drawings & accurately represent complex geometries and systems in a 2D or 3D CAD environment. Ensuring that all CAD models are meticulously detailed, capturing every aspect of the design, from structural elements to electrical and plumbing systems to serve as a critical tool for visualization, design validation, and the generation of construction documentation, ensuring that the final design is both feasible and compliant with project requirements. Conducting CAD Model Optimization: Conducting optimization of CAD models to improve performance and reduce file sizes, ensuring that the models are efficient to work with and do not impede project progress by simplifying complex geometries, reducing the number of unnecessary elements, and optimizing the layering structure within the CAD files. Ensuring that all optimized CAD models maintain the necessary level of detail and accuracy required for construction and fabrication, by optimizing the models, improving workflow efficiency and reducing the risk of errors during the design and construction phases, leading to a more streamlined project execution. Generating Technical Documentation from CAD Models: Generating technical documentation, including detailed drawings, schedules, and specifications, directly from CAD models to ensure consistency and accuracy across all project documents by extracting precise dimensions and annotations, ensuring that the documentation aligns with the design intent and project requirements. Ensuring that all technical documentation adheres to project-specific standards and industry best practices, such as those set by relevant building codes and regulations & updating documentation to reflect changes in the CAD models, providing the construction team with the most current and reliable information. Conducting Quality Checks on CAD Drawings: Conducting thorough quality checks on all CAD drawings to ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to project standards & review drawings for potential errors or omissions, verifying that all dimensions and annotations are correct, and ensuring that the drawings are fully coordinated with other project documents. Ensuring that any issues identified during the quality check process are promptly addressed and corrected, maintaining the highest standards of accuracy and reliability in the CAD deliverables thus minimizing the risk of errors during construction and ensuring that the project progresses smoothly. Supporting CAD Data Management and Organization: Supporting the management and organization of CAD data by ensuring that all files are properly named, stored, and backed up according to project protocols & have a well-organized directory structure, adhering to file naming conventions, and ensuring that all CAD data is easily accessible to project team members. Regularly reviewing and updating the CAD data management practices to ensure compliance with project requirements and industry best practices by maintaining a well-organized CAD database, facilitating efficient collaboration and data retrieval, leading to improved project outcomes and reduced risk of data loss or miscommunication. Qualifications and Experience

Educational Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field. Certifications such as Autodesk Certified Professional: AutoCAD, Certified CAD Professional (CCP) from CADD Centre, or Diploma in CAD from NIIT Work Experience: 10-12 years of experience in CAD or a related role Practical experience in using CAD software and managing CAD projects, preferably within the infrastructure or construction sector, is essential. Hands-on experience with CAD tools and software: Familiarity with tools like AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and Revit is crucial for effectively creating, managing, and analyzing digital designs and drawings for airport facilities.
