Job Description – Lab Technician (Eye Bank)

Reports To: Assistant Manager – Eye Bank
Employment Type: Full-time
Experience Required: 2–4 years (preferred 2–3 years)
Salary: ₹4,00,000 – ₹6,50,000 per annum
Education Requirement: Diploma in science/healthcare or one year healthcare experience with knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy
Travel Requirement: Yes, 45–50%

The Lab Technician will be responsible for the final disposition of recovered tissue and test samples, including storage and/or shipping. Duties include:

• Recovering eye tissue from donors for transplant and research
• Drawing blood samples for serological testing
• Reviewing donor medical history and performing physical assessments
• Transporting eye tissue to/from Eye Banks and laboratories
• Preparing tissue and biological specimens for transport
• Cleaning facilities and maintaining equipment
• Preparing ocular tissue for processing in the lab
• Documenting donor and tissue information in reports and databases
• Managing inventory and stock in tissue handling areas
• Preparing and sterilizing instrument kits
• Performing corneal evaluation and sterile tissue processing for grafts
• Training other surgical recovery staff and assisting with administrative functions
