Role Summary:

Lab QC Head

Key Responsibilities:

1. Quality Control & Laboratory Management

Lead and manage QC laboratory operations, ensuring accurate and timely analysis of raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products.

Implement and monitor testing protocols for chemical, microbiological, physicochemical, and PCR-based analyses.

Ensure strict compliance with national and international standards such as FSSAI, ISO, HACCP, and GMP.

Review and approve analytical reports, COAs (Certificates of Analysis), and quality documentation.

Develop, validate, and improve laboratory testing methods.

2. R&D and Product Innovation

Lead R&D initiatives for new product development and product improvement projects.

Conduct research on ingredient functionality, nutritional analysis, product stability, and shelf-life studies.

Evaluate new raw materials, additives, and processing technologies to optimize product quality.

Collaborate with production and marketing teams on formulation improvements and innovations.

3. Leadership & Team Development

Supervise, train, and mentor QC analysts, R&D chemists, and microbiologists.

Ensure continuous skill development through workshops, training, and updated lab methodologies.

Assign responsibilities, review performance, and ensure high productivity within the lab team.

4. Compliance, Safety & Documentation

Maintain complete documentation of all quality-related activities, including SOPs, test procedures, and validation records.

Ensure laboratory safety protocols, calibration schedules, and maintenance of instruments (HPLC, GC, PCR, spectrophotometers, incubators, etc.)

Interact with third-party labs, regulatory bodies, and auditors during inspections and certifications.

5. Cross-Department Collaboration

Work closely with production, procurement, and supply chain teams to address quality-related issues.

Provide technical expertise for process troubleshooting and corrective actions.

Participate in root-cause analysis and establish CAPA (Corrective & Preventive Actions).

Key Skills & Technical Expertise:

laboratory analysis

HPLC, GC, PCR systems, UV/Vis spectrophotometers, and microbiology equipment

FSSAI, ISO 17025, BRC, HACCP, GMP

Strong leadership, problem-solving, and analytical skills.

Excellent documentation, reporting, and communication abilities.

Ability to drive innovation and quality improvements across the organization.

Qualifications:

Food Technology, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Chemistry

Proven track record of leading QC labs and managing R&D operations.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

Quality compliance and audit success rate

Accuracy and reliability of laboratory results

Timely completion of QC and R&D projects

Efficiency and performance of lab team

Reduction in quality defects and customer complaints
