Job Description

The Junior Research Fellow (JRF) will be involved in a research project titled "Corrosion and Wear Resistant Behavior of Compositionally Graded Ni/Cr/YSZ Nanocomposite Coatings for Nuclear Waste Processing Applications," which is funded by the CSIR ASPIRE program. The project aims to develop and analyze compositionally graded coatings using electron beam physical vapor deposition (EBPVD) to improve their structural integrity, corrosion resistance, and wear performance for use in nuclear vitrification furnaces. Your responsibilities will include conducting deposition experiments, performing structural and morphological characterizations, and evaluating nanomechanical, tribological, and corrosion-resistant properties. You will be required to utilize techniques such as scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and nanoindentation testing. Additionally, documenting research findings, contributing to publications in SCI journals, and assisting in preparing project reports are also part of your role. To be eligible for this position, you must hold a B.S. (4-year program) or B.Sc, Integrated BS-MS, M.Sc., B.E., or B.Tech degree in Physics, Applied Physics, Materials Science, Nanoscience, or Nanotechnology with a minimum of 55% marks, along with a valid NET/GATE qualification. This position is for a duration of three years, offering a fellowship of 37,000 per month for the first two years, with an increase to 42,000 in the third year, plus HRA as per norms. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to enroll for a Ph.D. at Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology, Chennai, and will work under the guidance of Dr. T.
