Junior Python Data Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Junior Python Data Engineer to join the data team of a leading financial asset management company. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with a strong foundation in Python and SQL to contribute to the support and development of applications from a data perspective while gaining valuable industry experience. Responsibilities: Assist in the design and implementation of software components based on specifications. Contribute to system integration and testing efforts under guidance. Perform basic troubleshooting and resolve straightforward issues. Conduct development testing of software components with supervision. Collaborate with team members to support project efforts efficiently. Execute data manipulation tasks, ensuring high-quality output. Operate and maintain climate change models with appropriate operational controls. Analyze input and output data for errors or inconsistencies and provide support in their resolution. Assist in maintaining and improving analytics models for reliability and performance. 1-2 years of experience as a software developer using Python. Proficiency in working with lists, tuples, dictionaries, and sets. Basic file handling and memory management. Familiarity with simple decorators, generators, and async/await usage. Understanding of basic OOP principles and standard Python modules (pytest, re, and pandas). Basic SQL skills, including: Writing SELECT queries with filters and WHERE clauses. Using aggregate functions like SUM and COUNT. Understanding joins, data types, and basic window functions. Exposure to multiprocessing and multithreading concepts is a plus. Basic verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to follow instructions and seek clarification when needed. Demonstrates empathy and a collaborative spirit in team settings. Basic task prioritization and organization skills. Capable of estimating time for simple tasks and managing personal deadlines effectively. Fluency in written and spoken English. A proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to delivering high-quality work. A strong willingness to learn and grow within a collaborative team environment. Nice to have: Exposure to cloud technologies like Docker or Kubernetes. Knowledge of DevOps tools such as Git or Jenkins. Familiarity with financial industry concepts or data analytics.
