Job description Job Summary: The Insurance Coordinator plays a key role in the healthcare revenue cycle by ensuring accurate insurance verification, pre-authorizations, claims submission, and follow-up. This role supports patient access to care by coordinating insurance benefits and minimizing financial barriers, while maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations. Key Responsibilities: 1. Insurance Verification & Authorization Verify patient insurance coverage and benefits before appointments and procedures. Obtain prior authorizations and referrals required by insurers for medical services. Inform clinical and administrative staff of any insurance limitations or requirements. 2. Claims Processing & Follow-Up Submit all insurance documents details with supportive insurance partner. Monitor claims for processing status and address rejections or denials with corrective action. Follow up with insurance companies to ensure timely reimbursement and resolve any delays or discrepancies. 3. Patient Communication & Support Educate patients on their insurance coverage, deductibles, copayments, and financial responsibilities. Give proper communication with patient regarding explanation of benefits (EOB) Collaborate with the billing team to set up payment arrangements when necessary. 4. Documentation Maintain accurate patient insurance records. 5. Coordination & Reporting Coordinate closely with front desk, medical records, and billing teams to ensure workflow efficiency. Participate in audits and quality improvement initiatives. Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration or related field preferred. Minimum 1-2 years of experience in a healthcare setting handling insurance coordination or medical billing. Strong knowledge of commercial insurance plans, Medicare, Medicaid, and managed care. Familiarity with CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding standards.
