Reporting To: Nursing In charge/Nursing Superintendent
General
• Taking over the charge in each shift at patients bed side
• Taking care of daily inventory
• Controlling theft / pilferage and breakages
• Checking up dressing trolley, medicine trolley, crash cart for expiry of medicine & availability of
numbers.
• Accompanying serious patients for investigations / transfer.
• On receiving the new admission, as per policy, staff nurse shall immediately attend to the patient
herself and see, if any, emergency treatment and attention such as Oxygen, change in patients
position is required, this should be carried out at once.
Patient's Care (Comprehensive Nursing Care)
• To keep the morale of patient high.
• To be responsible for patient& personal hygiene, safety and comfort.
• To ensure neatness of patient& bed, clean clothes and combed hair.
• To administer routine medicines and injections and to carry out the other current and stat orders.
• To collect and send the samples for investigation in time.
• To collect the reports of investigation and file them.
• To dispose off the used needles, I.V. sets and Syringes appropriately immediately after use. Do not
leave the spirit swabs, Syringes, empty ampoules and bottles on patient’s bed side locker.
• To check 4 hourly vitals as well as intake and output in all critically ill patients.
