Hull Structure Design Engineer (Naval Architect / Design Engineer)

Role & responsibilities

The Hull Structure Design Engineer will be responsible for delivering high-quality structural design outputs that support both basic and production engineering phases. The role requires strong technical competency in naval architecture, adherence to classification standards, and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

Primary Responsibilities

• Execute core

  Naval Architecture calculations

  , including stability, scantling, resistance, and powering assessments.
• Develop

  hull lines plans

  and conduct

  3D hull modelling

  using Rhinoceros (Rhino) and Maxsurf platforms.
• Prepare comprehensive

  3D structural models

  , including midship sections, deck arrangements, shell expansions, and detailed structural drawings for catamaran and high-speed craft.
• Produce complete

  hull fabrication drawings

  , including

  nesting plans

  for aluminium vessel construction.
• Ensure strict compliance with applicable

  classification society rules

  , including DNV, ABS, LR, BV, IRS, CCS, as well as relevant IMO and SOLAS requirements.
• Provide technical support to shipyard and production teams during the development of production drawings and as-fitted documentation.
• Apply sound knowledge of

  welding processes

  , construction methodologies, and material specifications for aluminium and steel vessel structures.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelors degree (B.-Tech) in

  Naval Architecture

  &

  Shipbuilding Engineering

  , or

  Structural Engineering

  .

• 13 years of professional experience

  in hull structural design, vessel construction, and preparation of nesting/fabrication drawings.
• Proven understanding of

  speedboat and catamaran design fundamentals

  , including lines plan development and associated calculations.
• Demonstrated proficiency in

  3D modelling

  and structural design workflow.
• Working knowledge of classification rules from DNV, LR, IRS, ABS, NK, and other IACS members.
• Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving abilities, with a high degree of attention to detail.
