: HR - Payroll Specialist

Location: Kolkata, West Bengal (Head Office)

Salary: 4 to 4.5 LPA

Job Summary

The HR - Payroll Specialist will be responsible for managing the end-to-end payroll process for all employees at Austin Plywood. This role requires a detail-oriented, organized, and experienced professional who can ensure accurate and timely compensation, maintain compliance with all relevant labour laws, and support the broader HR functions. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of Indian payroll regulations, a knack for problem-solving, and a commitment to confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities

1. Payroll Management:

  • Manage the full cycle of payroll processing for all employees, including new hires, terminations, leaves, and salary changes.
  • Calculate and process employee salaries, wages, bonuses, and other reimbursements accurately and on time.
  • Verify and process attendance data, leave records, and overtime hours.
  • Ensure compliance with all statutory requirements, including but not limited to Provident Fund (PF), Employee State Insurance (ESI), Professional Tax (PT), and TDS (Tax Deducted at Source).
  • Generate and distribute payslips and Form 16s to employees.
  • Reconcile payroll data with general ledger accounts and prepare payroll reports for management.
  • Handle and resolve employee queries related to salary, deductions, and other payroll matters.

2. Statutory Compliance:

  • Stay up-to-date with changes in Indian labor laws, tax regulations, and payroll-related statutory requirements.
  • File all statutory returns and forms (e.g., PF, ESI, TDS) accurately and within the stipulated deadlines.
  • Coordinate with external auditors and government authorities for any payroll-related audits or inspections.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Experience:

    3-5 years of experience in HR with a primary focus on payroll management in an organization of similar scale.
  • Education:

    Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Commerce, or a related field. An MBA in HR or a relevant certification is a plus.
  • Technical Skills:

    • Proficiency in payroll software (e.g., Tally, SAP, or similar).
    • Advanced knowledge of MS Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, etc.).
    • Familiarity with HRIS and other HR-related software.
  • Knowledge:

    • In-depth knowledge of Indian labor laws, statutory compliances (PF, ESI, PT, Gratuity, etc.), and income tax regulations.
