Position Title : Head-Quality Control (QC) - Hot Rolling Mill

Location: Jharkhand

Qualification : B.Tech / M.Tech in Metallurgy/ B.Sc / M.Sc (Chemistry)

Experience: 20+ Years

Job Purpose :

The Incumbent is responsible for overseeing all aspects of quality control operations within the Rolling Mill department at an integrated steel plant. This role ensures that all rolling mill processes meet the highest standards of quality, compliance, and operational efficiency. will lead a team of engineers, technicians, and quality control personnel to maintain product consistency, reduce defects, and improve production yields while meeting safety and environmental standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership and Management:

Lead the Rolling Mill Quality Control team in daily operations and performance management.

Develop and implement strategies for continuous improvement in quality, production, and safety.

Mentor and train staff to ensure adherence to quality standards and practices.

Collaborate with other departments (e.g., Production, Engineering, Maintenance) to resolve quality-related issues and optimize plant operations.

Quality Control:

Oversee the implementation of quality standards and procedures for raw material inspection, in-process quality checks, and final product evaluation.

Ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., ISO, ASTM) and customer specifications for all rolled products.

Perform root cause analysis for quality defects and work to eliminate recurring issues.

Drive the implementation of advanced quality tools and techniques such as Six Sigma, SPC (Statistical Process Control), and FMEA.

Process Improvement and Optimization:

Identify opportunities for process improvements within the rolling mill to reduce waste, improve product quality, and increase throughput.

Lead initiatives to implement new quality control technologies and methodologies that enhance operational performance.

Monitor quality metrics and prepare detailed reports on product quality trends, defects, and corrective actions.

Safety and Compliance:

Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols in all quality control activities.

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory standards and environmental laws affecting steel production and quality control.

Manage and ensure the proper documentation of quality inspections, testing results, and non-conformance reports (NCRs).

Customer Relations and Communication:

Collaborate with the sales and customer service teams to address customer complaints and feedback regarding product quality.

Support customer audits and visits by providing necessary documentation and data related to quality control processes and results.

Budget and Resource Management:

Develop and manage the annual budget for the quality control department.

Ensure the optimal use of resources (personnel, equipment, materials) to meet quality objectives while adhering to budget constraints.

Coordinate with the procurement team for the acquisition of quality testing equipment and materials.
