Role Overview

Republic Digital is on the lookout for a thinking, knowledgable, creative, editorially strong leader to head the Podcasts & Original Video Division on Digital. This is a cross-format role combining the ability to source original inputs for Digital Video, work to line up Podcasts and interviews across different formats, work with reporters to develop original stories, have the craft of storyboarding with depth and visualisation to ensure high visual and editorial output.

The ideal candidate must have an impeccable ability to visualise stories, frame by frame, as well as ideate on original content production across platforms.

The ideal candidate must be extremely competitive in lining up podcasts and working with the Network team to ensure high-quality content in the Podcast format

The ideal candidate must be self-driven and buzzing with ideas on how to take news stories forward, how to work with ground inputs and how to intersperse information with the art of visualisation to create strong news packages

The ideal candidate must blend creativity with tight and aggressive deadlines, and be fuelled by the competitive nature of the news video space

The ideal candidate must bring with her/him a proven record of delivering targets in the news video space

The ideal candidate must have strong leadership skills and have the ability to be self-motivated and take the team along.

Key Responsibilities

* Conceive, produce, and publish news and non news podcasts, explainers and well researched news video packages

* Oversee all original news videos, script writing, voiceovers, visual planning, and pre and post-production.

* Lead a team of producers, video editors and graphic designers.

* Work with anchors and correspondents and reporters to generate original news content especially for digital.

* Commission issue-based stories, interviews, and opinion-led content.

* Ensure on-time publishing and audience engagement across YouTube, OTT, audio, and digital.

Must-Have Skills

* 6–10 years of experience in digital storytelling, video/audio production or in any hard news space

* Editorial sharpness with a deep understanding of current affairs.

* Impeccable academic record

* Proven ability to stick to aggressive deadlines and go on and beyond expectations in terms of quality editorial production

* Demonstrate an insatiable appetite for the news

* Have strong visualisation skills, with deep contextual knowledge across divisions of current affairs- both national and international

* Strong skills in scripting, storyboard direction, and video edit.

* Familiarity with podcast production tools

* Hands on journalist who has the ability to work with teams across the newsroom

* Visual sensibility to guide editors and producers on in-video and thumbnail strategy.
