Job Description

Job Summary:

The Head of Marketing is responsible for planning, developing, and executing comprehensive marketing strategies to promote the hospital's services, enhance brand visibility, drive patient acquisition, and strengthen stakeholder relationships. The role demands a strong understanding of healthcare marketing, digital strategies, patient behavior, and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning & Leadership

  • Develop and implement annual marketing plans aligned with the hospitals strategic objectives.

  • Lead and mentor the marketing team, ensuring high performance and collaboration.

  • Analyze market trends, competitor activities, and patient demographics to inform strategy.

Branding & Communication

  • Build and maintain a strong hospital brand image across all platforms.

  • Oversee development of marketing collateral, patient education materials, and internal communications.

  • Coordinate with PR agencies/media to manage public relations and crisis communications.

Digital Marketing

  • Drive digital marketing initiatives including SEO/SEM, social media, online advertising, and content marketing.

  • Oversee website performance, patient engagement tools, and online reputation management.

  • Track digital campaign performance and optimize based on insights.

Patient Engagement & Acquisition

  • Design and implement patient outreach programs, health camps, and community engagement initiatives.

  • Monitor patient feedback and satisfaction to continuously improve services.

  • Collaborate with clinical teams to promote key specialties, new services, and health packages.

Business Development

  • Identify new market segments and business opportunities (corporate tie-ups, insurance partners, wellness programs, etc.).

  • Support the sales team in lead generation, physician referral programs, and strategic partnerships.

Budgeting & Compliance

  • Develop and manage the marketing budget efficiently.

  • Ensure marketing activities comply with medical ethics, advertising standards, and healthcare regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field (MBA preferred).

  • 8-15 years of progressive marketing experience, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership role.

  • Prior experience in healthcare/hospital marketing is strongly preferred.

KRA

1. Revenue:

a. Study the budget and prepare plan to achieve revenue as per budget

b. Percolate targets to the team and lead planning of actions for them

c. Monitor plan and achievement of revenue on a daily basis

d. Take corrective actions where required

2. Patient Footfall:

a. Study NMC norms for vartious categories

b. Percolate targets to the team and lead planning of actions for them

c. Monitor plan and achievement of footfall on a daily basis

d. Take corrective actions where required

3. Stakeholders experience improvement

a. Identify 3 key processes to be improved for patients / potential patients based on previous feedback / grievances received

b. Prepare and implement a structured action plan for improvement

c. Monitor progress of actions implemented

d. Review grievances received and actions taken for resolution

e. Specifically work on converting actions into process improvements

4. Consultant / HOD / HOU and Superspecialist communication, co-ordination and satisfaction.

a. Reflect on MSBD escalations and issues raised in the past

b. Prepare an action plan for recurring issues

c. Implement actions through appropriate teams

d. Monitor impact on a periodic basis

5. District Coverage

a. Study current district coverage and identify new districits to be added this year

b. Work with HR on deploying manpower in the new districts

c. Prepare plan for entering the district through various activities

d. Monitor progress of planned actions and data on patient footfall from those districts

6. Tie ups.: TPA & Govt

a. Work on identified TPA and other tie ups by initiating communication, working with internal teams on requirements and documentation

b. Liaison for getting the tie ups done

7. Self development

a. Participate in the 360 survey conducted by North Star and provide honest feedback on Self

b. Receive feedback openly and reflect on own development areas

c. Participate in preparation of own IDP - LDP

d. Take ownership of Self IDP - LDP and work on defined actions

e. Seek help / support where obstacles are faced

f. Identify key conferences for participation

g. Attend approved conferences and share learning with the team

h. Implement changes, as felt necessary, based on learning

8. People development in the department

a. Identify training needs for the team as well as for individual team members

b. Work with Unit HR and L&D to conduct relevant programs

c. Monitor effectiveness of training conducted through actions implemented by team. Personally mentor key team members on improvement

d. Design and conduct employee engagement initiatives for the team

e. Have 'Stay' dialogues with key team members and resolve their concerns, if any

f. Monitor reasons for attrition and make an attempt to resolve them.

About the job

We are Looking for Dynamic and Experienced Marketing Head Responsibilities

  • Driving overall revenue of the unit

  • Responsible to deliver BD volume and revenue from the Trade channel, Insurance, Corporate/PSU and others

  • Empaneling CARE with other corporates - public & private and maintain trackers for all contracts and renewals

  • Proper deployment of team members in the territories and expanding coverage into new territories as per potential

  • Tracking competition sales and activities on regular intervals

  • Ensuring proper coverage of Doctors, Doctor database, maintaining the number and frequency of vISItS

  • Ensuring proper day to day monitoring of referrals generated

  • Team management, recruitment and retention

  • Conducting seminars, Continual Medical Education (CME) programs, ORC's, conferences and camps on a regular basis.

  • Joint field work with executives/TLs and maintain a healthy relationship with doctors (internal and external), corporates, Insurance & TPAs on a regular basis.

  • Strategizing on sales and activities to generate revenue and brand awareness for the unit

  • Planning and execution with unit/corporate branding/digital team for unit specific campaigns and activities

  • Monthly reports, MIS on sales, coverage, competition, activities, referrals, payor mix, attrition etc.

Required knowledge

  • Must have worked in a similar capacity for at least 5 years

  • Should have managed a team size of 10+ direct reportees

  • Should have managed unit level branding / activities and digital initiatives

  • Go getter, passionate in driving sales, team player and love challenges

Preferred candidate profile

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field (Master's degree preferred)

  • >12 years' experience in healthcare marketing with a focus on doctor referrals and neighborhood marketing.

  • Strong knowledge of the healthcare industry and its trends.

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.

  • Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and execute marketing plans.

  • Leadership experience and the ability to motivate and manage a team.
