Head IP - Risk and Protection

As a Head of IP Risk and Protection, your role involves overseeing the identification and mitigation of potential intellectual property (IP) legal risks in new product development (NPD) designs. You will be responsible for strengthening the culture of technology and NPD through IP. Your key responsibilities include: - Reviewing NPD designs to identify areas of IP legal risk and implementing strategies for IP risk mitigation. - Developing search strategies and conducting analysis for freedom to operate (FTO), scope of protection (SOA), invalidation, opposition, and litigation. - Performing advanced technology and competitive intelligence analysis to design IP protection for transportation design and engineering. - Driving the IP culture within the organization by taking proactive actions to de-risk designs and products. - Conducting patent and competitor portfolio analysis using both patent and non-patent literature. - Leveraging tools such as IT and data analytics for effective IP search and analysis. - Collaborating with IP attorneys and legal associates to provide timely IP opinions and recommendations. - Planning and conducting FTO reviews for NPD at the product level across automotive technology domains. - Implementing best practices, standardizing processes, and enhancing productivity through digitalization. - Releasing periodic IP alerts, addressing stakeholder concerns, and managing projects independently. - Conducting searches for FTO, state-of-art technology, and timely protection of all forms of IP across global jurisdictions. - Staying updated with industry best practices and utilizing state-of-the-art tools for IP searches. - Resolving claim interpretation issues in FTO and maintaining confidentiality of IP matters. Your educational qualifications should include a Graduate/PG/PhD degree in Engineering (Mechanical/Electronics/Automotive/Material Science). Additional qualifications such as WON, WIPO DL101, DFSS, and Qualified Patent Agent Exam will be advantageous. Having 18+ years of relevant experience is required for this role. A qualification in IP Law and a WON certificate would also be beneficial for this position.,
