We're looking for a skilled Sr. Research Scientist - IPR with a focus on Medical Device and AI technologies . In this role, you will be responsible for creating and executing a robust patent strategy , ensuring the organization has the freedom to operate in its key markets (US, EU, and CA). You will be a key player in IP due diligence , protection of assets, and supporting various teams with your expertise. This role requires a professional with a strong technical background and a deep understanding of patent law and regulations. Key Responsibilities IP Strategy & Analysis: Design and review IP strategies for medical device and AI products . Conduct in-house Freedom to Operate (FTO) and Infringement Analysis for key markets, and draft comprehensive patent opinions. Patent Drafting & Filing: Perform patentability searches , draft new patent applications for the US, EU, and Canada , and facilitate the filing and grant process. Cross-Functional Support: Act as the primary IP contact for R&D, Portfolio, Business, Project Management, and Regulatory Affairs teams. Innovation & Compliance: Nurture an innovation culture by identifying new ideas and technical solutions. Ensure compliance with all relevant IP patent laws and regulations. Competitive Intelligence: Track and analyze new patent publications from competitors in the US, EU, and CA markets. Patent Office Queries: Address technical and administrative queries from various patent offices. Qualifications A Bachelor's or Master's degree (B.Tech / M.Tech) in Electronics or Computer Science , or a PG Diploma in Patents. A Registered Indian Patent Agent certification is a strong advantage. Proven experience in an electronics, AI, or drug device technology-based industry . Skills Deep familiarity with IP regulatory guidelines and industry best practices for medical devices. Strong experience with FTO and Infringement Analysis . Expertise in patentability studies and drafting new patent applications. Excellent analytical and research skills for competitor tracking and IP due diligence. Outstanding communication skills to support and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Role & responsibilities of IPR Executive: 1) IP Evaluation and clearance of APIs/Key Starting Materials (KSMs) ROS received from in-house & outside suppliers. 2) Preparation of IP summary reports and supplementary reports for APIs. 3) Periodic monitoring of patents/patent publications and their legal status. 4) Answering IP related queries received from in-house & outside customers. 5) Experience in literature search using Scifinder and other available databases. 6) Good command on patentability analysis, patent drafting and filling at various patent offices.

The Intellectual Property Search Analyst will be responsible for performing prior-art searches and evaluating third-party patent rights with IP Managers. Main Responsibilities & Tasks: Perform prior-art searches for patentability, FTO and invalidity studies in external and internal patent databases Facilitate patent mapping and patent landscaping in cooperation with IP Managers, Product Development and Corporate Research to explore emerging technologies and to identify future IP trends Evaluate 3rd-party patent rights in close cooperation with IP Managers and Product Development and Corporate Research colleagues Evaluate new IP search and analysis tools and test their performance (benchmarking) in comparison with IP tools already in use at Sartorius Qualification & Skills: Master degree in biochemistry, biotechnology, life sciences, biology, chemistry, data analytics or engineering Qualification as an patent or IP search specialist would be an asset Minimum 3 years of professional experience as an IP search expert for a multinational corporation or commercial IP search service provider Expertise in designing and implementing IP search strategies in Derwent Innovation, Total Patents, PatSnap, STN, Questel or other commercially available patent search tools Robust understanding of the basics of patent laws with regard to patentability, FTO analyses, invalidity procedures Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, excellent interdisciplinary communication skills, intercultural competence for working in a multinational team Team player, ultrafast learner, personal resilience, perseverance, quick understanding of complex technical problems, meticulousness Fluent in English

Preparation of Invalidation Strategies for OB listed and other constraining patents related to API. Good command on patentability analysis, patent drafting and filing at various patent offices. Preparation of responses for the examination reports of patent offices. Experience in literature search and preparation of IP summary reports for APIs. Answering IP related queries received from in-house & outside customers. Stay updated on industrial regulations and legal developments related to patents. Thorough understanding of organic reactions, spectroscopy, stereochemistry & polymorph evaluation etc. Well exposure in review of attorney documents, notice letter(s), complete response letter(s) etc. Experience in using Iqvia, Scifinder and other freely available databases.

Responsibilities: Review IP landscape reports, non-infringement& FTO analysis Devise strategies for patent non infringement and invalidations Collaborate with R & D Scientist to explore design around strategies for P-IV & NCE products Conduct IP due diligence for product selection/ new opportunity identification. Support RA for patent certification, PIL clearances and declaration Monitor, review and manage ANDA litigations Conduct patentability searches, draft and file patent applications and manage prosecutions Ensure timely and effective task delivery through strategic planning prioritisation and execution.
