Harsha Institutions is a reputed group of educational institutions catering to a large student community across multiple disciplines. Our college canteen serves nutritious, hygienic, and quality food to 1,000–2,000 students daily, with a strong focus on taste, consistency, and food safety.

Role Overview

The Head Cook – College Canteen will be responsible for preparing authentic South Indian meals for students and staff, managing kitchen operations, maintaining hygiene standards, and ensuring timely food service for a large student population.

This role requires experience, discipline, and a genuine commitment to quality cooking in an institutional environment.

Key ResponsibilitiesFood Preparation & Quality

  • Prepare daily South Indian breakfast, lunch, snacks, and dinner as per the menu.
  • Ensure consistency in taste, portion control, and food quality.
  • Plan menus suitable for students, focusing on nutrition and affordability.

Kitchen Operations

  • Manage cooking for 1,000–2,000 students efficiently.
  • Coordinate with assistant cooks and kitchen helpers.
  • Ensure timely preparation and service of food.

Hygiene & Safety

  • Maintain high standards of kitchen cleanliness and hygiene.
  • Follow food safety guidelines and institutional hygiene norms.
  • Ensure proper storage and handling of raw materials.

Inventory & Coordination

  • Coordinate with canteen administration for ingredient requirements.
  • Minimize food wastage through proper planning.
  • Report any kitchen-related issues to the administration.

Discipline & Responsibility

  • Maintain discipline within the kitchen team.
  • Ensure compliance with institutional rules and schedules.
  • Be accountable for food quality and student satisfaction.

Eligibility & Experience

  • Proven experience as a cook in:
  • College canteens, hostels, or large kitchens
  • Strong expertise in South Indian cuisine (vegetarian and non-vegetarian, if applicable).
  • Ability to handle bulk cooking efficiently.
  • Physically fit and able to work long hours when required.
  • Prior institutional cooking experience is highly preferred.
