Hardware Engineer

Job responsibilities

• Hardware design and module development for EV / HEV (Electric/Hybrid) Battery Management Systems (BMS)
• Design and development of digital and analog electronics for control of high electronics systems.
• Start to finish ownership of control boards and other electronics from specification to design, prototype, and manufacturing.
• Collaborative work with mechanical, digital control, thermal design, and manufacturing test engineers.
• Product level electrical design including component selection, branch circuit design and insulation coordination.
• Collaborate with BMS HW/FW engineering team to successfully to design, validate and deploy testing tools
• Preparation of test specification, test plan and test reports
• Responsible for verification and validation of developed hardware

Skills required

• 8+ years overall experience in analog and/or power electronics design
• 4+ years of demonstrated successful experience in electrical engineering within a product design and manufacturing environment (high power Li-Ion batteries is a plus)
• Experience in 48V and High Voltage (~400V) based Battery Management Systems (BMS) Architecture and circuit design
• Experience in hardware development for automotive applications which includes requirement analysis, circuit design, worst-case analysis and simulation
• Experience in supervision of PCB layout for minimal stray inductance and capacitance, placement strategies for better manufacturability, power/signal plane definition and EMC optimization.
• Experience with high current power semiconductor selection (IGBTs, MOSFET’s, and Diodes), gate drive and protection circuit design.
• Knowledge in environmental, reliability, and safety requirements for Automotive, Industrial & Residential applications.
• Product level electrical design including component selection, branch circuit design and insulation coordination.
• Detailed understanding of Industry design practices (DFMEA, RCA, WCCA, PPAP)
• Knowledge of EMI/EMC compliance.
• Experience with Mass production
• Ability to articulate design issues and path to resolution both verbally and with documentation
• Proven ability to work independently under high pressure and comfortable working in a dynamic environment
• Strong documentation and writing skills
• Self-organized and goal-oriented
