Plastics Product Design Engineer - R&D

Job Description

We are seeking a talented and motivated Plastic Product Design Engineer to join our team! In this role, you will be responsible for the design and development of innovative and functional plastic products, from concept to completion. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineers, designers, and manufacturing personnel, to ensure the successful development and launch of new products. Primary Job Responsibilities: Design and develop plastic products using 3D CAD software (Solidworks /PTC Cero). Analyse and select appropriate materials based on product requirements, cost, and manufacturability. Perform Design for Manufacturability (DFM) analysis to ensure designs are optimized for production. Conduct Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to assess product strength and functionality. understanding of Design and Development of Injection molds/rubber/sheet metal components Understanding of Design and Development of Injection molds/rubber/sheet metal components Collaborate with engineers and Mold makers to design and develop tooling for injection molding. Conduct prototyping and testing to validate designs and identify potential issues before production. Work with manufacturing teams to ensure product quality and production efficiency. Stay up to date on new trends and technologies in plastics engineering. Prepare technical documentation, drawings, and reports. Skill Sets: Experience with Moldflow analysis software Knowledge of injection moulding processes Strong understanding of design for sustainability principles Experience in consumer durable Home Appliance, Electronic goods, and automotive is appreciated. Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software. Qualifications and Experience: Bachelor's degree/ Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Plastics Engineering. 5 to 7 years of experience in plastic product design and development. Proven track record of successfully designing and launching new plastic products. Strong knowledge in 3D CAD software (Solidworks, Creo) Knowledge of plastic materials, properties, and processing methods. Strong understanding of DFM principles and best practices. Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Experience with secondary operations (e.g., finishing, assembly) Industry preference: Water Purifier , Home Appliance, Electronic goods, consumer durables, Air Cooler, Plastic Moulding Tool Makers
