Group Leader- Mechanical Maintenance

Role Overview

The Group Leader Mechanical Maintenance will lead a team of maintenance engineers and technicians to ensure smooth functioning, reliability, and efficiency of all mechanical equipment and systems. This role will focus on preventive and predictive maintenance, breakdown resolution, and continuous improvement in plant performance.

Key Responsibilities

Maintenance Planning & Execution

• Develop and implement preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance plans.
• Supervise the maintenance team to ensure timely and effective repairs.
• Maintain equipment history records and analyze failure trends to prevent recurrence.
• Coordinate maintenance shutdowns and overhauls with production teams.

Equipment Reliability & Optimization

• Monitor the performance of machines and utilities to minimize downtime.
• Recommend and execute modifications to improve reliability and efficiency.
• Implement condition monitoring techniques such as vibration analysis, thermography, and lubrication management.

Team Leadership & Development

• Lead, train, and mentor mechanical maintenance staff for skill enhancement.
• Allocate tasks and monitor performance to ensure compliance with maintenance standards.
• Foster a culture of safety, discipline, and continuous improvement.

Safety & Compliance

• Ensure adherence to safety protocols and statutory regulations during maintenance work.
• Conduct risk assessments and ensure use of PPE and lockout/tagout procedures.
• Comply with ISO, TPM, and other quality management systems.

Spare Parts & Vendor Coordination

• Manage spare parts inventory to avoid downtime due to stockouts.
• Coordinate with vendors for procurement of mechanical spares and maintenance services.
• Evaluate vendor performance for cost and quality optimization.

Key Skills & Competencies

• Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and rotating equipment.
• Hands-on expertise in preventive and predictive maintenance techniques.
• Proficiency in maintenance software (CMMS) and MS Office tools.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and team management abilities.
