Granulation Operator (Pharmaceutical Industry)

The Granulation Operator is responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining granulation equipment as per SOPs, GMP guidelines, and batch manufacturing records (BMR). The role ensures consistent granule quality for downstream processes such as compression and encapsulation.

Key Responsibilities

A. Equipment Operation

• Operate granulation equipment such as:
• RMG (Rapid Mixer Granulator)
• FBD (Fluid Bed Dryer)
• Multi-mill / Sifter
• Blender / Co-mill
• Set machine parameters and ensure smooth operation throughout the process.
• Perform equipment changeover and cleaning as per SOPs.

B. Batch Processing

• Review and follow Batch Manufacturing Records (BMR) for each stage.
• Accurately weigh and transfer raw materials as per dispensing order.
• Perform wet granulation, drying, milling, and blending as per defined procedures.
• Monitor critical process parameters (CPP) and maintain process control.
• Collect in-process samples and coordinate with QC.

C. Quality & Compliance

• Ensure all activities comply with GMP, GDP, and safety guidelines.
• Complete documentation accurately and in real-time (ALCOA+).
• Report any deviations, abnormalities, or equipment malfunctions immediately.
• Maintain hygiene and cleanliness in the granulation area.

D. Equipment Maintenance

• Perform routine maintenance and lubrication activities.
• Assist in preventive maintenance and breakdown support.
• Ensure equipment calibration status is valid before use.

E. Safety

• Follow all EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) guidelines.
• Use PPE appropriately.
• Participate in safety trainings and ensure safe material handling.

3. Qualifications & Experience

• Education: ITI / Diploma in Pharmacy / B.Sc / B.Pharm (preferred).
• Experience: 1–5 years of experience in granulation or solid dosage manufacturing.
• Hands-on experience in RMG and FBD operation is an advantage.

4. Skills & Competencies

• Knowledge of tablet/capsule manufacturing processes.
• Understanding of GMP, SOPs, and documentation practices.
• Ability to troubleshoot basic equipment issues.
• Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.

5. Work Environment

• Cleanroom production area.
• Shift work may be required.
• Physical activities such as lifting materials, handling equipment, etc.
