Role & responsibilities Railway Contract Management: Manage the complete contractual lifecycle of railway bridge projects, including interpretation, administration, and enforcement of terms. Handle contracts related to RVNL, IRCON, DFCCIL, RITES, or other railway authorities and PSUs. Prepare and review contracts, LOAs, and subcontract agreements in alignment with Indian Railways norms and MoR guidelines. Client & Stakeholder Interface: Liaise with client representatives (e.g., RVNL, Railways) for all contract-related issues, approvals, and clarifications. Attend client meetings, technical committee reviews, and contract negotiation forums. Variation & Change Management: Identify and evaluate variations, scope changes, and prepare associated cost and time claims. Coordinate with Planning and Engineering teams for impact assessment and claim documentation. Claims & Dispute Resolution: Prepare, justify, and negotiate contractual claims related to cost, extension of time (EOT), and other entitlements. Manage pre-arbitration discussions and support legal teams during arbitration or litigation proceedings. Compliance & Documentation: Ensure compliance with Indian Railways manuals (e.g., GCC, SCC), circulars, and contract conditions. Maintain contract registers, correspondence logs, and approval records as per internal and client norms. Risk Analysis & Mitigation: Assess contractual and commercial risks and formulate mitigation strategies. Highlight critical clauses during bid stage and project kick-offs to project management. Support to Bidding & Estimation: Provide contract inputs during bid preparation including contract clause evaluation, deviation analysis, and risk allocation. Assist tendering teams in understanding specific clauses of Railway contracts. Coordination with Site & HO Teams: Work closely with Project Managers, Planning, Execution, and Procurement teams to ensure contractual alignment at the site level. Facilitate approval of work programs, progress claims, and certification processes. Team Leadership: Lead a team of contract engineers/executives and ensure timely delivery of all contractual deliverables. Train junior team members on contractual practices specific to Indian Railways. Preferred candidate profile Educational Qualification: B.E./B.Tech in Civil Engineering (Mandatory) Postgraduate qualification in Construction Management / Contract Law / LLB will be an added advantage. Experience: Total professional experience: 15 to 25 years Minimum 5+ years of core experience in handling Railway Bridge Contracts (including PSC/Steel Girder Bridges, ROBs, FOBs). Hands-on experience with contracts under RVNL, IRCON, DFCCIL, RITES, MoR , or other Railway PSUs. Experience in managing EPC/Item Rate Contracts , including sub-contracting and JV arrangements.
