Job Description

Objective:

The General Manager Business Development will spearhead institutional and government business initiatives for TEL's wires and cables portfolio. This role involves strategic engagement with government bodies, ministries, EPC contractors, and large-scale infrastructure developers to drive growth, ensure compliance, and position TEL as a trusted partner in the industrial and infrastructure sectors.

Key responsibilities:

Government & Institutional Liaison:

Establish and maintain strong relationships with government departments, ministries, and regulatory authorities.

Manage end-to-end processes for government-related sales, tenders, and contracts.

Represent the company in government meetings, industry forums, and public sector discussions.

Ensure compliance with government policies, schemes, and regulatory procedures.

Advocate for favorable business conditions through active engagement with trade associations and policy bodies.

Business Development, Customer & Key Account Strategy:

Formulate and execute strategies to penetrate new markets and customer segments while driving institutional and project-based sales for TEL's cables, wires, and accessories portfolio.

Identify and convert high-value opportunities across government, institutional, and large-scale private projects.

Build and maintain strong relationships with key accounts and stakeholders to maximize revenue, enhance brand positioning, and ensure customer satisfaction and retention.

Expand presence in Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) projects by engaging with infrastructure developers and EPC contractors.

Present TEL's value proposition effectively and foster strategic partnerships to drive long-term growth.

Financial & Operational Planning:

Prepare business forecasts and manage budgets for new ventures.

Ensure profitability and financial sustainability of institutional and government projects.

Team Management & Stakeholder Management:

Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team to achieve business objectives.

Allocate resources effectively, set clear goals, and monitor team performance.

Foster a collaborative and results-driven work environment.

Engage and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment on project goals and deliverables.

Manage expectations, resolve conflicts, maintain transparency throughout project execution, build trust and long-term relationships with stakeholders to support strategic initiatives.

Experience and Qualification:

  1. BE (Electrical) or MBA preferred (Electrical background is an advantage
  2. 1520 years of proven experience in liaising with government departments, ministries, and regulatory authorities for project approvals, clearances, and compliance. Demonstrated expertise in managing relationships and securing projects with key public sector entities such as PSUs, PWD, DRDO, Railways, and other government agencies.
