General Manager- Engineering : TACO Prestolite Electric Pvt. Ltd.

Role & responsibilities

This role is responsible for leading our engineering initiatives, overseeing the design, development, and production of electric vehicle motor and will be responsible for ensuring that our engineering efforts align with business objectives and industry advancements. This leadership position requires a strategic thinker with a deep technical background and a passion for innovation in electric mobility. Since, this product is on a quick development path and every 2 years is a generation change the leader needs to have capability of envisaging and devise technology roadmap ahead of time.

Key Responsibilities:

• Leadership and Strategy:

• Develop and execute the engineering strategy to align with the companys vision and growth objectives.
• Lead, mentor, and inspire a diverse team of engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.

• Design and Development:

• Oversee the entire motor development lifecycle, from concept through design, prototyping, testing, and production.
• Implement cutting-edge design practices and tools, ensuring the development of high-performance and efficient electric motors.
• Drive research and development (R&D) initiatives to explore new technologies and methodologies.

• Project Management:

• Establish project goals, timelines, and deliverables, ensuring alignment with company priorities.
• Monitor project progress, managing risks and addressing issues to keep projects on schedule and within budget.
• Utilize project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Lean) to enhance efficiency.

• Cross-Functional Collaboration:

• Collaborate with product management to translate market needs into engineering requirements.
• Work closely with manufacturing teams to ensure the scalability and manufacturability of designs.
• Partner with quality assurance to establish testing protocols and ensure product reliability and safety.

• Supplier and Partner Management:

• Manage relationships with key suppliers and external partners to secure quality materials and technologies.
• Negotiate contracts and agreements to ensure favorable terms and conditions.

• Regulatory Compliance and Standards:

• Ensure that all engineering activities comply with relevant industry regulations, safety standards, and environmental considerations.
• Stay updated on changes in regulations and adapt engineering practices accordingly.

• Budgeting and Resource Management:

• Develop and manage the engineering budget, ensuring optimal allocation of resources.
• Identify and implement cost-saving measures without compromising quality.

Preferred candidate profile

• Bachelors degree in electrical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field; Master’s degree or Ph.D. preferred.

• Minimum 15 years of engineering experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within the electric vehicle or automotive sector.
• Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale engineering projects from concept to production.

• Deep understanding of electric motor design, electromagnetic theory, thermal management, and power electronics.
• Familiarity with simulation tools (e.g., ANSYS, MATLAB) and CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
