Role & responsibilities

A General Manager Electrical Designing & Safety leads electrical project design, implementation, and compliance, overseeing teams, budgets, and technical standards (like IS/IEC codes) to ensure safe, efficient, high-quality electrical infrastructure, from concept to completion, managing stakeholders, risks, and technical documentation for projects. Key duties involve strategic planning, design review (SLDs, panel layouts, safety systems), team management, budget control, procurement support (BOQs/MTOs), and ensuring adherence to safety regulations and project KPIs.

Key Responsibilities

1. Design & Engineering:

Review and approve electrical designs, SLDs, panel layouts, cable sizing, and protection schemes.

Develop specifications and Bill of Quantities (BOQ) for procurement.

Provide technical guidance on power distribution, substations, and control systems (SCADA/PLC).

2. Safety & Compliance:

Ensure strict adherence to IS/IEC codes, local regulations, and company safety policies.

Conduct site inspections, risk assessments, and implement corrective actions.

3. Project Execution:

Manage project planning, scheduling, and resource allocation.

Liaise with clients, consultants, contractors, and internal teams.

Monitor project progress, track deliverables, and report to senior management.

4. Team & Budget Management:

Lead, mentor, and manage a team of electrical engineers and technicians.

Develop and manage departmental budgets and cost forecasts.

5. Procurement & Vendor Management:

Evaluate technical bids, manage vendor relationships, and support efficient purchasing.
