GCP Looker - Roles and Responsibilities 1. Requirement Gathering & Analysis Work with business stakeholders to understand reporting, analytics, and visualization needs. Translate business requirements into data models, dashboards, and KPIs. 2. Data Modeling in LookML Design, build, and optimize LookML models, explores, and views. Define dimensions, measures, joins, and persist derived fields. Ensure models follow best practices for performance and scalability. 3. Dashboard & Report Development Develop interactive, user-friendly dashboards and reports in Looker. Ensure consistency, high-quality visual representation, and drill-down capabilities. Implement row-level security (RLS) and access filters. 4. Integration with Google Cloud Platform Connect Looker with BigQuery datasets, Cloud SQL, and other GCP sources. Optimize query performance and cost efficiency on BigQuery. Manage data pipelines feeding Looker using GCP services like Dataflow, Pub/Sub, Composer, or Dataproc. 5. Performance Optimization Monitor dashboard and query performance. Optimize LookML definitions, caching mechanisms, and BigQuery usage. Reduce cost by identifying heavy queries and optimizing execution. 6. User Access & Security Management Manage roles, permissions, folder-level access, and content governance. Ensure compliance with organization security standards. 7. Data Quality & Validation Validate the accuracy of data models and dashboards. Conduct data reconciliation and fix inconsistencies. 8. Documentation & Best Practices Create technical documents, architecture diagrams, and data dictionary. Define LookML coding standards and dashboard design guidelines. 9. Collaboration & Support Provide ongoing support to business teams for report creation and dashboard enhancements. Train users on Looker functionality and self-service analytics. 10. Deployment & Version Control Use Git for LookML version control. Manage development, staging, and production Looker environments. Deploy changes following release management processes.
