We are currently looking to hire an accomplished Matte Painting artists to work with us as part of our dynamic team. Concept Art Creation: Develop high-quality concept art for environments, characters, and props that align with the creative vision of the project Matte Painting: Create detailed and photorealistic digital matte paintings for use in VFX shots, integrating seamlessly with live-action footage and CGI elements Collaboration: Work closely with the Art Director, VFX Supervisor, and other departments to ensure that concepts and matte paintings meet the creative and technical standards of the project Research and Reference: Conduct research and gather references to inform the creation of realistic and believable environments and assets Technical Integration: Ensure that digital matte paintings are optimized for integration into the pipeline, including working with compositors to achieve the final look Problem Solving: Address technical challenges related to matte painting and concept art, providing solutions that adhere to project timelines and quality standards Quality Control: Review and ensure the quality of artwork produced, maintaining a high standard of work throughout the production process Documentation: Maintain documentation for concept and matte painting processes to ensure consistency and knowledge sharing within the team Ability to work closely with the VFX Supervisors to ensure that plates meet planned concept design requirements. Experience: 4+ years of working knowledge of Nuke. Software Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in industry-standard software such as Photoshop, Maya, Nuke, and other relevant tools Artistic Skills: Strong artistic skills with a solid understanding of composition, color, lighting, and perspective Technical Knowledge: Knowledge of VFX pipelines and workflows, including experience with integrating matte paintings into live-action and CGI shots Communication: Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and the ability to produce highly realistic and visually compelling artwork Adaptability: Ability to adapt to changing project requirements and timelines while maintaining a high standard of work Creativity: A creative mindset with the ability to contribute to the overall visual direction of the project Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to address technical and creative challenges efficiently Keen understanding and application of perspective in the creation of the 3D digital environments. Understanding of basic principles of 3D texture projections in Maya is considered an asset. Solid knowledge of lighting, rendering and the compositing process. As a visual effects Producer is central to VFX project management. They liaise with all aspects of post-production: Director, Editor, external VFX Supervisor and Producer, internal Producers and Supervisors as well as artists. Working closely with the artists a VFX Producer helps strategize and implement tasks and targets crucial to the delivery of the project on time and on budget Responsibilities: Assist in the organization of material, reports and references from the shoot that are essential to the artists’ work. Plan the workload for the assigned department(s) in collaboration with the VFX Supervisor and the Production Director. Assign resources (number of days) to planned tasks; Prepare and provide the necessary elements for the team; Organize and keep track of validations; Management of the artistic team: ensure that deadlines are met for each task assigned, daily verifications and adjustments of schedules; Facilitate communication between the line producer, supervisors and the artists; Maintain communication between all departments. Prepare daily reports on the progress of tasks (to do/in progress/left to do), validations and problems in the department(s); Monitor the current and upcoming expenses of the department(s); Attend and participate in production meetings with the supervisors; Perform other related tasks as assigned by the Production Director or the VFX Supervisor; Essential Skills: Background in VFX or minimum 1 year experience. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Excellent organizational and management skills. Ability to coordinate a mid size artist team. Excellent administrative and word processing skills: thorough knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel (creating reports and managing data) Ability to anticipate problems related to the project’s development as a whole. High level of initiative, flexibility and confidence. Knowledge of an asset manager such as SHOTGUN Extensive knowledge of the creation process and terms used in Visual Effects Production. Ability to prioritize and work on multiple tasks at a time while remaining efficient and mindful of strict deadlines in a high pressure environment. Desirable Skills: Basic Linux skills Basic Avid/editorial knowledge Good knowledge of the Ms Office suite, including Excel & Word and of the Google Suite including Sheets and Docs Knowledge of production database tools e.g. Shotgrid
