Foreman Mech - Incline, Haulage & Shaft

Purpose/Objective

Responsible to oversee Installation, Operation, maintenance and repair activities of all Mechanical equipment and machinery to be used in mining operations. Responsible for leading a team of workers and technicians for planning and scheduling maintenance tasks, inspecting equipment, training subordinates. Also responsible for all statutory compliances at workplace and in maintaining the records as per statute & DGMS guidelines.

Key Responsibilities of Role

- All the duties and responsibility of Mechanical Foreman as mentioned in Regulations and orders made thereof - Overseeing the maintenance and repair of all mechanical equipment used in underground mining operations like LW equipment, Continuous miner, Road header, shuttle car, Feeder breaker, Belt conveyor with their Drives, hydraulic pumps, loaders, drills, and ventilation systems. - Ensuring that all maintenance activities are conducted in compliance with safety regulations and procedures to minimize the risk of accidents or injuries to workers. - Leading and supervising a team of mechanical technicians, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure tasks are completed efficiently and safely. - Conducting regular inspections and testing of mechanical equipment to identify any defects or malfunctions and taking corrective actions to maintain operational efficiency. - Being prepared to respond to emergencies such as equipment breakdowns, coordinating rapid response efforts to minimize disruptions to operations and ensure the safety of personnel. - Maintaining accurate records of equipment maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs, and preparing reports as necessary for compliance and decision-making purposes. - Managing inventory levels of spare parts and supplies needed for equipment maintenance and repair, ensuring adequate stock is available to minimize downtime. - Collaborating with other departments such as production, engineering, and safety to coordinate maintenance activities, optimize equipment performance, and enhance overall operational efficiency. - Identifying opportunities for process improvement and implementing measures to enhance equipment reliability, efficiency, and safety in underground mining operations. - Providing ongoing training and development opportunities for mechanical technicians to ensure they are up-to-date with the latest technologies, safety protocols, and best practices in equipment maintenance and operation. - Diagnosing mechanical problems as they arise, developing solutions, and implementing repairs to minimize downtime and maintain productivity. - Take reasonable means to ensure proper observance of the Act and of the regulations, and orders made thereunder by persons under his charge and shall, as soon as practicable, report any contravention thereof to his superior official. - Ensure that no inexperienced person is employed on any work except under the supervision of an experienced person. - Assign and coordinate tasks for team members. - Ensure all machineries and operators are working in a safe & secured manner. - Maintain Operations, Safety, Equipment, and manpower records in the shift as per statute & DGMS guidelines. - Shall identify risks and ensure that risk Management is done timely to avoid accidents.

Qualifications and Experience

Qualifications: Essential: Diploma or ITI in Mechanical Engineering. Experience: 5-8 years (at least 3-year experience in UG coal mining)
