Fixture Design

As a Jig/Fixture Design Engineer, your primary responsibility will be designing fixtures for machining and assembly processes, primarily utilizing hydraulic actuated fixturing and clamping. You will also be required to modify existing fixture designs as per the project requirements. In addition, you will be responsible for designing variable measurement gauges and acceptance and functional qualification gauges based on the requirements provided by stakeholders such as the Process Design team, NPD team, and Plants. Your role will involve reviewing designs created by team members to ensure correctness of dimensions and concepts. A thorough understanding of engineering drawings related to machining processes is essential for this position. Proficiency in using 2D/3D CAD software, particularly Inventor/AutoCAD for fixture/jig design activities, is required. You should have comprehensive knowledge of GD&T and working knowledge of stack-up tolerances. Additionally, familiarity with selecting hydraulic cylinders, actuation/clamping products, hydraulic circuits for fixture design in machining processes, and machining process prove-out is crucial. Experience with inspection methods, understanding of inspection reports, and the ability to continuously work on improvements are key aspects of this role. You should be innovative, continuously striving to enhance your knowledge in the chosen area of work. Attending prove-outs as needed and resolving design-related issues during development/prove-outs will also be part of your responsibilities. Problem-solving skills related to fixture design issues during prove-outs are essential. Effective communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to work well in a team are important qualities for this role. Being self-driven to achieve set targets in design and related activities is a must. Adhering to systems and maintaining documents/records as per organizational requirements is also necessary. Collaboration with peers, internal departments, and other staff members is expected. Demonstrating cohesive and team-playing abilities towards a cross-functional team (CFT) approach is essential for success in this role.,
