Fitter

Qualification:

• ITI / Diploma in Fitter or equivalent trade

Experience:

• Minimum 2–5 years of experience in structural fitting, preferably in the shipbuilding or heavy fabrication industry

Job Summary:

The Fitter will be responsible for assembling, aligning, and fitting various structural components of ships and marine structures as per drawings and specifications. The role involves fabrication, marking, tack welding, and ensuring dimensional accuracy during assembly to meet production and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and fabrication sketches.
• Measure, mark, cut, drill, and grind metal plates and structural sections according to design specifications.
• Assemble and fit ship structures such as hulls, bulkheads, decks, and frames.
• Ensure proper alignment, level, and dimensions during fitting and assembly.
• Perform tack welding and assist welders in joint preparation.
• Use hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments (e.g., levels, tapes, squares, gauges) effectively.
• Ensure materials and components are correctly identified and handled safely.
• Maintain housekeeping and safety standards in the work area.
• Report any deviations, defects, or material shortages to the supervisor.
• Support other trades (welders, fabricators, riggers, etc.) during ship assembly.
• Follow all company and shipyard safety protocols, including PPE compliance.

Skills & Competencies:

• Strong knowledge of fabrication and fitting practices in shipbuilding.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and symbols.
• Hands-on experience with oxy-acetylene cutting, grinding, and basic welding.
• Good understanding of material handling and rigging.
• Physically fit and capable of working in confined or elevated spaces.
• Teamwork, attention to detail, and a safety-first attitude.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹18,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
