Description
As a Firewall Safety and Networking Specialist, you will play a crucial role in safeguarding and enhancing the efficiency of the organization's network infrastructure. Your primary responsibilities will revolve around configuring, managing, and upkeeping firewall systems, monitoring network traffic, and implementing security protocols to shield against unauthorized access and cyber threats. You will be accountable for the following key tasks: Firewall Management: Your duties will encompass configuring, deploying, and overseeing firewall systems (both hardware and software) to fortify the organization's network against external and internal threats. Monitoring firewall performance and logs will be essential in swiftly recognizing and addressing potential security incidents. Additionally, updating and patching firewall systems to rectify vulnerabilities and ensure adherence to security policies will be part of your routine. Network Security: Implementing and sustaining network security measures, including intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), antivirus software, and VPNs, will be crucial. Regular security assessments and vulnerability scans will aid in identifying and mitigating risks effectively. You will also be responsible for formulating and enforcing security policies and procedures to safeguard sensitive data and uphold network integrity. Network Monitoring and Troubleshooting: Monitoring network traffic and performance to detect and resolve issues promptly will be integral to your role. Addressing network connectivity and performance problems through troubleshooting will be part of your daily tasks. Analyzing network traffic patterns and logs to pinpoint and counter potential security threats will be a critical aspect of your responsibilities. Documentation and Reporting: Maintaining accurate documentation of firewall configurations, network topology, and security policies will be imperative. Generating and reviewing reports on network performance, security incidents, and compliance with security standards will aid in maintaining transparency and accountability. Collaboration and Training: Collaborating closely with other IT professionals, such as network administrators and security analysts, will ensure the seamless integration of security measures. Providing training and support to staff on network security best practices and procedures will be essential in fostering a secure network environment. Continuous Improvement: Keeping abreast of the latest trends and advancements in network security and firewall technologies will be crucial. Recommending and implementing improvements to bolster network security and performance will be key in staying ahead of potential threats. Qualifications: A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field is required. Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CompTIA Security+ are preferred. Proven experience in network security, including hands-on experience with firewalls, IDS/IPS, and network monitoring tools, is essential. Skills required include in-depth knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/S, etc.) and firewall configurations, proficiency with firewall platforms like Cisco, Palo Alto, Fortinet, or Check Point, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.,
