Job Title: Finance Functional Expert

Overview

We are looking for a highly skilled Finance Functional Expert with strong experience in Revenue Management, Trial Balance, Financial Reporting, and Advanced Excel-based analytics. This role will act as a bridge between the business and technical teams, translating complex functional requirements into actionable tasks. The ideal candidate will have exceptional communication skills, hands-on financial domain knowledge, and experience supporting UAT cycles and stakeholder reporting.

Required Skills & Experience

Functional Expertise

• 510 years of experience as a Finance Functional Analyst / Revenue Specialist / Business Analyst in finance domain.
• Strong understanding of Revenue Management, Trial Balance, General Ledger, and Financial Reporting.
• Experience working with revenue data, reconciliations, accounting entries, and financial controls.

Technical & Analytical Skills

• Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, SUMIFS, INDEX-MATCH, conditional logic, scenarios, what-if analysis).
• Experience in creating stakeholder-level performance dashboards and analytical reports.
• Familiarity with ERP/Financial systems (Oracle, NetSuite, SAP, etc.)preferred but not mandatory.
• Knowledge of BI tools (Power BI/Tableau) is a plus.

Soft Skills

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong analytical mindset with ability to simplify complex financial logic.
• Ability to work with multiple stakeholders and manage expectations.
• High ownership, attention to detail, and problem-solving attitude.

Education

• Bachelors or Masters in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, or related field.
• Professional certification (CA Inter / CMA / ACCA / MBA Finance) is a plus.

Key Responsibilities

1. Revenue Management & Financial Expertise

• Manage, validate, and analyze revenue data, ensuring accuracy and completeness across billing, invoicing, and recognition processes.
• Support month-end and quarter-end processes including Trial Balance, revenue accruals, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
• Ensure compliance with organization-wide revenue policies and accounting principles (GAAP/IFRS).

2. Advanced Reporting & Data Handling

• Build and maintain advanced Excel-based financial reports, dashboards, and models for senior stakeholders.
• Perform deep-dive analysis to identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for improvements in revenue processes.
• Work with large datasets using formulas, pivot tables, macros, and Power Query (optional).

3. Functional Requirements & Business Analysis

• Act as the functional expert between business users and technical teams (BI, Data, Engineering, Product).
• Break down complex revenue and financial requirements into clear, structured, and implementable components.
• Prepare functional specification documents, workflows, use cases, and scenarios.
• Support solution design discussions by providing clarity on business rules and financial logic.

4. UAT & Quality Assurance

• Actively lead and participate in User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for finance and revenue-related systems.
• Create test cases, execute scenarios, validate data outputs, and document defects.
• Ensure new enhancements, automation, and reports align with business needs before production release.

5. Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work closely with Finance, Operations, Sales, BI, and Technical teams to ensure accurate data flows and reporting.
• Translate financial concepts to technical teams in simple terms and explain system constraints back to business teams.
• Facilitate stakeholder reviews, requirement workshops, and decision-making sessions.
• Maintain continuous communication, tracking progress, raising risks, and ensuring alignment.

6. Continuous Improvement & Governance

• Identify gaps in current revenue processes and recommend automation or optimization opportunities.
• Support financial audits by preparing reconciliations, documentation, and data extracts.
• Ensure data quality, financial controls, and governance standards are upheld.
