Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Design & Detailing

    • Review structural and architectural drawings for assigned projects.
    • Prepare detailed faade engineering drawings in line with the scope of work, BOQ, and specifications.
    • Select appropriate glazing systems (unitized, semi-unitized, curtain wall, skylights, cladding, etc.) for project needs.
  2. Planning & Scheduling

    • Prepare a

      weekly design look-ahead plan

      aligned with the project scope and master schedule.
    • Submit

      weekly design progress reports

      to senior management.
    • Track and monitor design deliverables against agreed timelines, highlighting risks and deviations.
  3. Coordination & Compliance

    • Work closely with structural engineers to complete all structural checks (aluminium members, glass brackets, anchoring details).
    • Finalize shop drawings and secure approvals from consultants and clients.
    • Conduct

      coordination meetings with the production team

      to clarify shop drawings and address execution challenges.
    • Participate in

      work order meetings

      to align on design deliverables and material requirements.
  4. Fabrication & Documentation

    • Provide fabrication drawings, cutting lists, and material take-offs (MTO) to the operations team within deadlines.
    • Deliver accurate quantity take-offs and as-built drawings for project handover.
  5. Team Leadership & Monitoring

    • Lead and manage a team of 45 designers by allocating work, reviewing outputs, and providing technical guidance.
    • Monitor the quality, accuracy, and productivity of the design team on a daily and weekly basis.
    • Implement best practices to improve drawing quality and optimize turnaround time.
  6. Meetings & Communication

    • Attend design, client, and consultant meetings to resolve technical queries.
    • Record and circulate minutes of meetings to ensure alignment of all stakeholders.
    • Report design progress, challenges, and dependencies to management in a structured manner.

Key Requirements:

  • Education:

    Bachelor’s Degree in Civil/Architecture/Structural Engineering OR Diploma in Civil/Architecture with strong faade design experience.
  • Experience:

    • 8–10 years of proven experience in faade design and engineering.
  • Technical Skills:

    • Proficiency in faade systems: unitized, semi-unitized, curtain wall, cladding, skylights, roofing.
    • Expertise in AutoCAD, and other faade design software.
    • Strong knowledge of fabrication drawings, shop drawings, and MTO preparation.
  • Leadership Skills:

    • Ability to lead, mentor, and monitor a team of designers.
    • Strong project planning, scheduling, and reporting capability.
    • Excellent coordination with production, operations, and client teams.
