Fabric Designer – Wovens/Textures/Structure

We are seeking a creative and experienced Senior Designer to lead the design and development of our Apparel fabrics division. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in textile design, with a focus on creating innovative and market-relevant patterns, textures, and fabric compositions for men’s and women’s shirting/bottoms.

Role Overview

We are seeking a Fabric Designer to focus on woven, textured, and structural fabric development. This role is ideal for someone with a strong eye for yarns, construction, and fabric feel — who can translate aesthetic direction into commercial fabric designs for both domestic and export markets.

Location: Andheri, Mumbai – Maharashtra

Key Responsibilities

• Research and develop new woven and textured fabrics for curtains, decorative accessories, and broader home applications
• Collaborate closely with the product development and sourcing teams to execute swatches, lab dips, and samples
• Design and modify weave structures, yarn selections, and finishes to meet buyer expectations
• Build and maintain a swatch and fabric development library in sync with seasonal trends and buyer directions
• Work with internal mills and job workers to oversee sampling and execution
• Regularly review global trends, export buyer presentations, and trade shows to feed innovation into the design process
• Ensure technical feasibility, repeatability, and cost-effectiveness of developed fabrics

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in Textile Design / Woven Design / Surface Design
• 7-8 years of experience in woven fabric development, preferably for apparel/home textiles
• Proficient in weave software (e.g., Texcad, Textronics, or equivalents) and Adobe Creative Suite
• Strong understanding of yarn types, constructions, GSMs, and finishes
• Experience working with mills, job workers, or process houses
• Attention to detail and ability to translate mood boards and design briefs into real fabric concepts
• Good communication and coordination skills

Preferred Traits

• Interest in sustainable or natural materials
• Familiarity with both domestic and international apparel brands
• Ability to balance design intent with commercial feasibility
