The Risk Advisory Services Experienced Associate is responsible for partnering with more experienced Risk Advisory Services professionals to provide risk consulting and issues resolution to clients in the areas of Business Process, Internal audit, and other risk advisory services. In this role, the Risk Advisory Services Experience Associate will participate in various stages of an internal audit, SOX compliance or consulting engagement and provide assistance with planning, field work, engagement wrap up and report composition.

Job Duties

  • Testing business process controls for Internal Audits (IA) & Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) 302, 404 audits to evaluate design and operating effectiveness.
  • Applies experience/understanding in business process controls testing – covering processes cycles i.e., Purchase to Payables, Revenue & Receivables, Financial Statement Close, Equity, Inventory, Payroll & Human Resources, Treasury, Investments and Entity Level processes.
  • Assist fellow senior professionals in preparing flowcharts/placemats, narratives, process documentation, risk & control matrix and testing of design & operating effectiveness is preferred.
  • Obtains information, documents, and data from clients to support the completion of analysis and research of client issues.
  • Assists in the preparation of risk-based audit programs.
  • Documents and analyzes the client's processes, risks and controls with guidance and direction from fellow RAS professionals.
  • Implements project plans and maintains all documentation and work papers associated with client engagements.
  • Assists with the informational interviews and facilitation of meetings with clients during engagement process.
  • Assesses risk and communicates with other RAS professionals and/or clients, as necessary.
  • Develops initial deliverables and/or solutions to client issues.
  • Proposes basic recommendations for a risk-based audit plan.
  • Utilizes research tools, databases, and trade publications to develop understanding of client's industry.
  • Develops relationships with client personnel and management members.
  • Assists with the management of the engagement to ensure engagement metrics are achieved.
  • Utilizes research tools, databases, and trade publications to develop understanding of client's industry.
  • Assists with the research and drafting of proposals.
  • Maintains all documentation and work papers associated with client engagements.
  • Determines compliance with appropriate audit policies and procedures.
  • Prepares formal and informal presentations for client meetings.
  • Communicates findings to senior management and drafts comprehensive report of audited area.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Education:

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Accounting, Finance or other relevant field required

Experience:

  • Zero (0) to One (1) years’ experience within a public accounting firm or Fortunate 1000 company performing internal audit, Information Technology (IT) SOX Compliance or risk advisory services

License/Certifications:

  • CA/CPA/ACCA/CIA or other relevant certification preferred or working towards

Software:

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel, Visio, and Word

Other Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong academic history (Degree in Accounting/ Business or qualified CA/CMA/ACCA/CPA)
  • Relevant work experience, Big 5 experience preferred
  • Awareness of internal auditing standards issued by IIA, ICAI & ISACA
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, specifically business / report writing
  • Strong analytical and basic research skills
  • Solid organizational skills especially ability to meet project deadlines with a focus on details
  • Ability to successfully multi-task while working independently or within a group environment
  • Proven ability to work in a deadline-driven environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously
