Executive/Sr Executive -Biotechnology Upstream Mammalian Cell culture

Role Overview

Jodas Expoim is expanding its Biologics R&D capabilities and seeking a highly skilled professional to support upstream development for mammalian cell culture–based products. The role focuses on early-stage process development, optimization, and scale-up activities for biologics, biosimilars, recombinant proteins, or advanced therapeutic products aligned with Jodas’ quality and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute mammalian cell culture processes Perform clone screening, media/feed evaluations, and early upstream optimization.
• Establish robust seed train workflows from vial thaw to production scale.
• Apply DOE and QbD principles for process optimization, consistency, and scalability.
• Operate shake flasks and benchtop bioreactors (1–10 L), and support pilot-scale runs (20–200 L).
• Execute batch, fed-batch, and perfusion processes as per project needs.
• Monitor critical culture parameters and troubleshoot deviations proactively.
• Generate upstream material for downstream purification, analytical testing, and comparability studies.
• Perform in-process tests: cell growth, viability, metabolites, osmolality, product titer, and culture morphology assessment.
• Coordinate with Analytical R&D for protein characterization and product quality assessments.
• Use statistical tools (JMP/Minitab/Python) to evaluate process trends and outcomes.
• Prepare protocols, batch records, development reports, and technology-transfer documents.
• Maintain accurate records in ELN/Lab Notebooks to meet internal quality expectations.
• Follow company SOPs and contribute to building documentation aligned with

  WHO, EU-GMP, and regulatory guidelines

• Support process tech-transfer to pilot or GMP manufacturing when required.

Cross-functional Collaboration

• Work closely with Downstream Development, Analytical R&D, Formulation, QA/QC, RA, and Manufacturing.
• Participate in technical reviews, project meetings, and cross-functional discussions.
• Provide scientific inputs to support project timelines and regulatory readiness.

Qualifications

Education

• B.Tech / M.Tech / M.Sc / PhD

  in Biotechnology, Bioprocess Engineering, Microbiology, Cell Biology, or related fields.

Experience

• For

  Scientist:

  2–6 years in mammalian cell culture or upstream bioprocess development.
• For

  Senior Scientist:

  6–10+ years with demonstrated process-development ownership and project leadership.

Technical Competencies

• Strong hands-on expertise in aseptic mammalian cell culture
• Proficiency with benchtop bioreactors and upstream bioprocess equipment.
• Working knowledge of media/feed optimization, scale-up principles, and PAT tools.
• Experience with QbD/DOE and statistical data analysis.
• Knowledge of regulatory expectations for biologics and biosimilars.
