Overview

We are looking for a highly skilled and detail-oriented Estimator / Cost Estimator with strong experience in construction, painting, and home-improvement project estimation. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in project management, cost estimation, and competitive bidding for both private and public sector projects. This role requires a proactive, analytical professional who can manage multiple estimates, deliver quick turnarounds, and contribute to continuous growth and process improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the complete estimation process for construction, painting, and home-improvement projects.
• Review project requests and customer information (photos, measurements, drawings, specs, notes) to prepare estimates.
• Analyze project plans to determine material, labor, equipment, and time requirements.
• Use estimation software such as On-Screen Takeoff, BlueBeam, PlanSwift, or internal tools to produce estimates.
• Build competitive bid proposals and negotiate pricing with subcontractors/vendors.
• Deliver client-ready estimates within tight timelines (24-hour turnaround when required).
• Communicate with project managers and stakeholders to clarify scope.
• Adjust estimates based on updated information or scope changes.
• Maintain accurate records in CRM / project management systems.
• Conduct site visits when required.
• Support improvement of pricing tools, cost databases, and estimating processes.

Qualifications & Skills

• 25+ years of experience in cost estimating within construction, painting, or home-improvement sectors (5+ preferred for construction bidding).
• Strong ability to read blueprints, drawings, specifications, and job scopes.
• Proven track record of preparing accurate estimates and winning competitive bids.
• Excellent negotiation skills and understanding of cost-control methods.
• Proficiency in Excel, Google Sheets, and familiarity with On-Screen Takeoff, BlueBeam, PlanSwift.
• High attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and excellent organization.
• Ability to work under pressure and handle high-volume, fast-paced estimating workloads.
• Strong communication skills and ability to explain estimates clearly.
• Independent worker with strong time management; remote coordination experience preferred.
• Proactive go-getter” attitude with the ability to manage tasks and support team growth.
