Estimation Engineer (Instrumentation)

Job Summary

The Estimation Engineer will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for instrumentation and fluid/flow control projects.
This role involves analyzing project specifications, assessing material and labour costs, and collaborating with sales and engineering teams to develop competitive bids.

Key Responsibilities

1. Estimate Preparation

• Analyse project specifications, P&IDs, datasheets, and instrumentation drawings.
• Prepare detailed cost estimates for instrumentation and fluid/flow control solutions.
• Identify and quantify all instruments, materials, labour, and equipment needed for the project.

2. Technical Evaluation

• Assess the technical requirements of instrumentation systems to ensure compatibility with proposed solutions.
• Liaise with suppliers/OEMs for pricing, technical clarifications, and lead times on instrumentation components.

3. Bid Development

• Develop comprehensive technical and commercial bids.
• Collaborate with sales and engineering teams to ensure estimates align with client requirements and project timelines.

4. Cost Analysis

• Perform cost analysis, benchmarking, and risk assessments specific to instrumentation and control systems.
• Review and refine estimates based on project outcomes and historical cost data.

5. Client Interaction

• Present and explain instrumentation estimates to clients.
• Provide technical support during the bidding process and address client queries.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Instrumentation, Mechanical)
• 3+ years of experience in estimation within the instrumentation or fluid industry
• Strong understanding of instrumentation and fluid systems and components
• Proficiency in estimation software and tools
• Excellent analytical and communication skills
