Job description Job Summary We are seeking a meticulous and passionate Senior Editor with deep knowledge of manga and anime culture to lead the editorial process for manga and publications. This role involves proofreading translated content, correcting errors, ensuring accurate chapter formatting, and maintaining the tone, flow, and integrity of the original Japanese material. You will oversee junior editors, coordinate with translators, and ensure that all content meets our quality and localization standards. Key Responsibilities: Proofread and edit translated manga and anime-related books to ensure accuracy, consistency, and readability. Review and correct chapter structures, numbering, and formatting to match the original source material. Maintain proper character consistency, tone, and cultural authenticity throughout the series. Collaborate closely with translators, letterers, and graphic designers to ensure the final product meets publishing standards. Lead quality assurance checks before publication (print or digital). Enforce and refine editorial style guides for anime/manga localization. Provide detailed feedback to junior editors and translators for continuous improvement. Work with the production team to meet deadlines and publication schedules. Stay updated on industry trends and popular manga/anime series to ensure cultural and genre relevance. Qualifications: 7-10years of editing experience, preferably in manga, or related entertainment publishing. fluency in English; working knowledge of Japanese is a strong plus. Deep familiarity with manga/anime genres, storytelling conventions, and fan expectations. Strong proofreading, grammar, and line-editing skills. Experience with formatting tools, editing software (e.g., Adobe Acrobat, InDesign), and CMS systems. Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines. Experience working with localization teams or publishers is highly desirable. Preferred Experience: Background in Japanese-to-English translation or working alongside localization teams. Previous experience editing serialized content (chapter by chapter). Familiarity with style guides specific to manga and light novel publishing (e.g., Yen Press, VIZ, Kodansha standards).
