Engineering Lead

**Job Description:** **Role Overview:** You will be responsible for driving system architecture and scale for a multi-product platform involving wearables, IoT edge devices, and cloud applications. Your role will include leading the technical delivery of core products, defining and executing the technical roadmap, building and leading a high-performance engineering team, overseeing complex cross-functional projects, ensuring engineering operational excellence, advancing AI and data strategy, and being a technology evangelist. **Key Responsibilities:** - Design and evolve the architecture of the platform using a modern microservices architecture - Lead the technical delivery of core products across backend, frontend, data pipelines, and wearable devices - Collaborate with stakeholders to define and execute the technical roadmap aligned with business goals - Grow, mentor, and retain a team of engineers, engineering managers, and architects - Oversee the implementation of large-scale projects in domains such as health tracking, real-time messaging, predictive analytics, and compliance logging - Establish and improve engineering best practices around development lifecycle, DevOps, observability, testing, and security - Collaborate with Data Science and Product teams to deploy AI/ML capabilities - Represent engineering across internal and external forums and champion the client's mission **Qualifications Required:** - Minimum 10 years of professional experience in software engineering with at least 4 years leading engineering teams - Strong experience in system architecture, distributed systems, and scalable backend development - Deep technical expertise in Java, Node.js, React, GraphQL, Kafka, and NoSQL databases - Prior experience with IoT protocols (especially MQTT) and cloud platforms like Azure and AWS - Familiarity with edge computing, time-series data, and real-time analytics - Understanding of AI/ML integration into product workflows - Exposure to maritime safety use cases is a strong plus - Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills **About Uplers:** Uplers" goal is to make hiring reliable, simple, and fast.
