Engineer, Hardware Systems Engineering

As a Research Scientist at KLA, your primary responsibility will be to work within the engineering team on designing new or improving designs of existing electron-beam imaging products for the semiconductor equipment market. You will be expected to gain a detailed functional understanding of the entire product, act independently, devise and drive innovative analyses and solutions for complex problems. Your activities will include the development of new designs by specifying SW / Algo / HW requirements followed by characterization, product integration, and maintenance. Additionally, you will be involved in remote and on-site customer support, which may include Fly and Fix visits to customer sites in Taiwan, Korea, Singapore, etc. For necessary training, you will be trained at KLA's Singapore and US offices. The overall travel load is expected to be between 50-75%. Key Responsibilities: - Design new or improve existing electron-beam imaging products for the semiconductor equipment market - Gain a detailed functional understanding of the entire product - Act independently to devise and drive innovative analyses and solutions for complex problems - Develop new designs by specifying SW / Algo / HW requirements - Characterize, integrate, and maintain products - Provide remote and on-site customer support, including Fly and Fix visits - Receive training at KLA's Singapore and US offices - Travel load expected to be between 50-75% Qualifications Required: - Doctorate/Master's degree in Physics, Engineering Physics, Engineering Design, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Materials and Metallurgical Engineering - Knowledge in instrumentation, signal processing, and optical/electro-optical systems such as electron microscopes preferred - Experience with Vacuum Systems, Electron Optics, and High Voltage for scanning electron microscopes or equivalent a plus - Hands-on experience in machine control and/or scientific data analysis highly desired - Demonstrated ability in setting up experiments, modeling, data analysis, and solving complex technical problems - Proficiency in scripting languages (MATLAB, Python, others) for scientific data collection & analysis - Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and ability to create effective technical presentations At KLA, we offer a competitive and family-friendly total rewards package designed to reflect our commitment to an inclusive environment while ensuring our benefits meet the diverse needs of our employees.
