Job Description

Responsibilities

Collaborate with emergency department healthcare teams to optimize medication management and ensure the safe and effective use of pharmaceuticals.

Provide expert guidance on medication selection, dosing, and administration during emergency situations.

Participate in the development and implementation of emergency department protocols and procedures related to medication use.

Conduct medication reconciliation and review patient medication histories to prevent interactions and contraindications.

Educate and train emergency department staff on pharmacotherapy principles and updates in emergency medicine pharmacy practices.

Assist in the management of drug shortages and the procurement of essential medications for emergency use.

Engage in research and quality improvement projects to enhance patient care and medication safety in the emergency setting.

Required Qualifications

Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree from an accredited pharmacy school.

Valid pharmacist license in the state of practice.

Completion of a PGY1 Pharmacy Residency and PGY2 Residency in Emergency Medicine or equivalent experience.

Strong knowledge of emergency medicine pharmacotherapy and clinical pharmacy practices.

Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with a diverse healthcare team.

Ability to make quick, informed decisions in high-pressure emergency situations.

Commitment to continuous learning and staying current with advances in emergency medicine and pharmacology.
